Here is the link clicky.
I have some questions: Does this only work for guitar? Can I record to my computer with this/the software it holds? Thanks in advance if anyone knows. EDIT: Okay never mind that, but does anyone know of a cheap ($99-$200) device for recording my bass to my computer. I absolutely know nothing about this, so help is appreciated.

The absolute cheapest way to simply record your bass onto your PC is to buy a 1/4" female to 1/8" male Phono adapter, typically used to plug a large headphone cable into and connect into a smaller headphone outlet. This can also function by plugging your bass instrument cable into it, and plugging the 1/8" end into your soundcard for mono input into your PC. You could also get creative with other adapters such as a 1/4" female to Dual 1/8" adapters which would allow you to split signals and record in stereo.
If you're wanting a multi-effects pedal though, I'd recommend something like a Line X Bass Pod, they're designed for basses instead of guitars. ![]()

If I got the Bass Pod: How would I go about getting it on my computer? Like what to do recording wise.
P.S. I don't think they make Bass Pod xt anymore. P.S.S. Links are appreciated.

Theoretically, if you got an effects box such as the pod, you could plug your bass into the box and the box directly into the computer's audio input via that little 1/4"-1/8" adapter MM mentioned.
If you have a decent recording program such as Mixcraft or Reaper, then I'd personally use the money to go get a small soundboard to run everything through, that way you can regulate the input levels and the sound alot more. Then you can add effects and such in the program. What kind of setup do you have right now, if you don't mind my asking?

Nah you don't. Like MusicMan said, the CHEAPEST way is to run a guitar cable from the headphone output on the amp, use a 1/4" female-1/8" male adapter(Radioshack, Fry's, Circu....whoops nevermind, or any electronics store would have them) and plug it directly into the audio input on the computer. I'd use line in rather than microphone settings if it gives you the option. Only problem is you'll really only be able to hear the strings when you play instead of the amplified result.
Go get yourself a copy of a program called Audacity. It's freeware and it's the best sound editing freeware there is, IMO. Easy to use, my only complaint was that it peaks the audio really easy. If I remember correctly(and anyone? Feel free to call me on this), you'll need a LAME encoder to render the audio to MP3, which I can fire your way since I dunno where to get it(I got it direct from a friend(and again, if anyone knows where to get it, help us out)). If not, then you're in the clear. That was my setup for a long time. But then I got too ambitious for my own good and acquired a bunch of stuff.

Oh yeah, when you do start to record, turn the amp all the way down and then slowly turn it up. Audacity's no good if you fry your sound card right out of the gate. And I've found that bass will do it quicker than anything.

I'm not sure this makes a difference, but I have a really old computer. Thought it was worth noting.
Could you also post links of what you would buy please?

Here's the Bass Floor Pod compared to the Bass Pod Live XT Note that the XT has USB I/O whereas the Floor Pod does not. You might look around for more models that have USB I/O if that's something you'd like.

As far as the old computer issue, it should not make a difference as long as it has the minimum system requirements for the programs.
