I know a lot of people who can create some amazing music without ever touching an actual instrument. It's an artform just like playing an instrument in my opinion. The complexities of some programs like Cubase offer endless possibilities and ways to create music. So if you're into making electronic music, tell us about it, or share your songs with everyone!

I sometimes use Powertabs to create music when I don't have access to a guitar. Everything I make in it is meant to be played on the actual instruments though.
I need to go looking for a guitarist around here.

The closest thing to that I've ever done was back on PS1, MTV Music Generator. My friend and I used to lay down some sweet Funk/70's Groove on that thing.:duh:

I don't have Cubase, I dabble around in Fruity Loops occasionally though, as well as Acid Music.
And to whoever mentioned the MTV Music Generator, my friend uses that a lot and made an AMAZING song on it. We mic'ed up his TV on playback and put the song on tape, I can probably get that on my comp sometime soon and share it with you guys, its insane how good that song is. |

Haha, I forgot about the MTV Music Generator. When that first came out I rented it and I thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread. I too was able to create some pretty cool stuff. You could even sample small clips from a cd and incorporate them into your song. I vaguely remember doing a rap song with some samples from NWA. Good times
![]() EDIT: I just remembered something. The vocals on that Music Generator were hilariously bad. It consisted of 3 different people recording clips of them singing "oh baby", "You make me hot", "rock on!", and crap like that. Laffo :duh: |

Don't get Cubase, it crashes a lot.
Get LOGIC EXPRESS or Logic Pro 7, you won't regret it.

I've been using Cubase for 4 years now and it hasn't crashed once! I tried Logic when I first started digital recording, since that was what shipped with my console and THAT crashed constantly!

There used to be a site called resrocket.com where you could go and collaborate with musicians from all over via midi file upload. I wish that site was still up. It was amazing!

Just so as you know, repeatedly posting your ad will undoubtedly incur the wrath of our benificient moderators, who are really nice guys until pissed off, in which case they send mutant birds to your place of residence, or stick you with nasty syringes, or just say: "we don't like ads." Please see the trash section. My recommendation to you is, put a (very shortened) ad in your signature, and then stick around and post. poeple will see it.

Or, upload some of your songs to the music showcase. Then, people will see the work you do, will probably have already seen your intoductory post, and will contact you if they like. |

Most all of them have some type of free trial. You can google "Fruityloops trial" or "cubase download" and things like that to find some. Or if you have a couple in mind I could hunt them down for you, just tell us what you're interested in.

MTV Music Generator is what started me using programs... It saved my life, tell the truth....
Once I was able to get the music I made with MMG online, People online were hella nice to me and taught me about computer programs like Buzz Tracker and then I was given Reason and that's wha I've been using ever since... It's the only way I know how to express myself... I can't play an instrument to save my life... Heh... But I think I have a few tracks here in the music showcase forum... |

Mmm...first programs I ever touched were ACID and eJay. ACID made my head spin but I did some...stuff...with it. eJay was horridly limited but so simple a monkey could use it. Good thing too, as that one taught me a thing or two about mixing and mastering and all that fun stuff. Thing is, it just didn't have the power I so craved.
Now I use Orion Platinum. It does everything I could ever want it to do and then some. If you want to hear the results, hit up www.soundclick.com/policyoverkill and give things a listen. At least, this is what I do with it. The official website (www.synapse-audio.com) has more people handy that do other sorts of things. Lovely, lovely, lovely program. No good for playing live, but great for producing.

I had fruity loops also, and I was really trying hard to make it work. but, recording, and layering didn't work for me for some reason, till i found out i was using a demo.
I had no idea it was a demo, it was a massive program on its own. |

I use FL Studio.
For now it's a demo, but I'm going to get the full version soon. I also use Audacity for wave editing. |

I used to use FL Studio 5/6, and I liked it. Very convenient program with lots of control. In the end I switched to Reason, which I find to have more professional sound, but it's less convenient.
Also, I never used more than mouse and pc keyboard to make music. Sometimes mic too. I have a Casio keyboard, but my pc doesnt have a midi controller. |
