Hi, dear music friends! My name is Alenka!
I am 48 years. Musician. I like different music: folk, jazz, gypsy ... I found your site in internet. (Serch Google) I suggest you to get acquainted with Russian folk group "DrevA". I am sure, that you will not regret. Share the information where this group can act. They frequently are in Europe and search for various places for representation of the music. To all I shall be grateful. Best wishes, Alenka |

I dont' think the upload worked. There are two main reasons this might have happened:
1. Uploads can take a long time, and sometimes the user closes the window before it's done. Make sure you wait until the upload is finished. 2. It might be a file type that isn't supported. If you're trying to upload music, make sure it's in the format ".mp3". |

It worked! I'll listen to them right now.
I only listened to the first one right now, because they were taking a while to download, but I really liked what I heard. That type of folk music is really something I enjoy listening to. I'm definitely going to listen to the others when the chance presents itself. The second song was REALLY good. It had a very sort of esquimo sound to it. Are you from the more north eastern part of Russia? ...Although, the third one had more of a southern, more Mongolian or Khazakstani feel to it. Last edited by Aqualung : 07-01-2008 at 12:14 AM. |

The second - West region of Russia (Bryansk) The third - South of Russia (Kursk region) The fourth - a capella lingering Cossack song and the fifth - Don's Cossack lingering songs with russian accordeon. The fifth song has a special history. It has been written down on expedition by our friends. And its blind cossack since the childhood executed. He played on an russian accordion and sang. (I have video from this expedition). The song has been executed by cossacks in tradition and has come in repertoir of many folklore collectives in Russia. It is one of our most favourite songs and at us to it the special quivering attitude. Thanks that our songs have listened. I am sincerely glad, as very much I like folk and I am glad, when there is an opportunity to tell and show it another. |

I listened to 3 of them just now because I had a moment, thanks for sharing.
![]() It sounds like you guys are good musicians and singers, but honestly it gets a little repetitive, which is probably not your fault AT ALL. Not understanding the words and hearing differences in verses and hearing the story you're telling, and the fact that folk music tends to be repetitive in nature, makes it a little tough to listen to for too long. But like I said, your band sounds great, it's just too bad I don't speak russian so I can't enjoy the songs as much as a native audience.

You are right, that for not devoted student it happens difficultly... For me all 5 songs seem very different. )Probably because I each cell feel this music. And nevertheless, you see, that alive performance is much more interesting. On record that alive power which is necessary at performance of similar music is lost. But thanks you for warm words in our address and that could estimate... And for patience in listening our songs ))))!!!! |

Oh, I didn't mean that all of the songs sounded alike, I enjoyed how each song sounded different from the next.
