Here's an article from BBC News about the best albums of all time.

Quote:
1: Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles
2: Thriller - Michael Jackson
3: The Joshua Tree - U2
4: Rumours - Fleetwood Mac
5: Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
6: Revolver - The Beatles
7: Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon and Garfunkel
8: Abbey Road - The Beatles
9: A Night At The Opera - Queen
10: The Beatles - The Beatles
What do you think of their list? Do you think something doesn't belong there? Or something does belong there?

I think that list is pretty heavy on the Beatles, don't get me wrong, I mean, I like the Beatles, but they weren't the only good band ever. I think one more that deserves to be on that list and isn't is Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd. I mean, it was the longest charting album ever wasn't it? I also likely would have added Supertramp's Crime Of The Century were I to make that list. And I agree with the Joshua Tree. And Simon and Garfunkel as well.

Yeah, I agree your Beatles sentiment - almost half the albums on there are by the Beatles. That's a bit much.

Who are they polling? I mean- if they are asking people in the UK that listen to music- well.. OK.. Beatles might be considered as one of the most important bands that happened in the UK at their time and all. But I have a question as to where are the Rolling Stones -or Led Zeppelin on this list as they also sent out a tremendous shock wave throughout the music world.
Especially since Zeppelin just pulled in the largest crowd EVER demanding comeback tickets- I mean 20 million plus people should get the notice of the BBC don't you think?
-But, in looking at the list- it's not just English performers- so it makes me think that maybe they polled people in the UK- but I would like to know from what criteria these results were gleaned.. because they are missing out on a whole ton of important bands and artists.. don't get me going- LOL..you all know I could ramble all night on this..but I will be kind and spare you..LOL

It was an internet poll conducted on a site specifically for the chart as well as on the BBC Radio 2 site.

Also, I noticed, this, which I didn't read before, and which goes along with Joel's comment:

Quote:
Because several iconic albums never made it to Number One in the album chart, a "best of the rest" category was also included in the poll.

This was topped by the Pink Floyd album Dark Side Of The Moon - which only made it to Number Two on its release in 1973.

there deffanetely shouldnt be so much by the beetles, it should be maximum of 2 by the same artist.

there are a lot of good songs i know, but very few albums i can say are good

there should be a rolling stones album up there, but i couldnt tell you what one.

i thought oasis whats the story morning glory would have been on it, but ive no idea how good it was, its practically their greatest hits album.

that list isnt the best albums of all time, its the best of the albums that reached number one

10 best albums of all time is apparently this list

Quote:

1: Definitely Maybe - Oasis
2: Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles
3: Revolver - The Beatles
4: OK Computer - Radiohead
5: (What's the Story) Morning Glory? - Oasis
6: Nevermind - Nirvana
7: The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
8: Dark Side Of The Moon - Pink Floyd
9: The Queen Is Dead - The Smiths
10: The Bends - Radiohead
i still dont agree with it completely though, even though its from 2006 XD

i also just found a site with this line up for top 10 albums of all time

Quote:

1. Beatles - Revolver
2. Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
3. Nirvana - Nevermind
4. Radiohead - OK computer
5. Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon
6. Beatles - Abbey Road up
7. U2 - The Joshua Tree
8. Oasis - Definitely Maybe
9. Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
10. Beatles - Sgt Pepper

the site i found this one looks like its being updated all the time though with people voting.

no problem, but in both lists i found theres a few albums that shouldnt be on it.

nirvanas i wouldnt think was one of the greatest

i dont even know who radiohead are to be honest =\

the stone roses i'd agree with being on it, that album had great material, their 2nd album was extremely poor compared to it though

the rolling stones should have a place somewhere on it i'd have thought, and the michael jackson thriller album (i think its called) i'd have thought was good

any one else agree or dis-agree ?
