Finally MusicMan is able to once again focus enough to put some thoughts on a track and create something original. Let me know what you guys think. It's different, kinda trying to create a visual for the theme/concept I imagined. So let me know if and what type of visual you're getting. Oh and try listening to it on loop a couple times.
![]() In case you were wondering, it's tough to put a genre label on it. It's kinda orchestral industrial electro organic trip hop ambient chill alert type stuff. Feel free to classify it however you'd like.EDIT: Reattached song 6-29-07

That sounded rather eastern. I think your title is very fitting for the song. It feels somewhat happy and hopeful, like a daydream, but also evokes a sense of enslavement. I really liked the drum track on that.

I really liked that a lot! Very surreal sounding. Great job on the orchestration, it sounded very professional. Reminds me of something from Windham Hill Records. Very nicely done!

Thanks for the feedback! I used Magix Music Maker 2005 Deluxe for this one. It's all programmed, nothing added afterwards.

It's hearing stuff like this that really scares me, THERE IS SOOOO MUCH GOING ON!!!!! I have so much to learn.
The depth and dimensions that you've created, are just magnificent it took me five listens to actually get the whole picture This must have taken a long time to create. The beginning really captures me, leading me onto a quite distrubing journey and I like the bit near the end where it sounds like your leaving a room or nightclub and the musics a little muffled, which cuts out abruptly and leaves you with the sinister undercurrent..........mmm...mmm....mmmmm. Now there are too many Smilies I don't know what to choose Good stuff....... |

I really liked it. The title is very fitting, it does give the feeling of enslavement, being trapped and having the inability to change anything (or some other similar situation), but also a feeling hope and resignation that that which you hope for may be a long time in coming.

Just heard this on the vbPlayer, which is pretty cool by the way. I would say that you have done a really good job of getting the music to tell the story that is laid down by the title.
The opening is really relaxing, I could listen to it any time I wanted to calm down. Therefore it successfully opens the piece with the vision that someone is daydreaming. This part of the song also kind of reminded me of Athlete. From there it gets slightly darker at around the 3.10 mark which suggests that the protagonist is still enslaved and stuck in their current life, which I am assuming is a job that they don't like. I come to this conclusion because the conclusion appears to be the protagonist exiting their daydream only to realise that it was just that, a daydream. They are still stuck in their job and the finale seems to be the noises of everything going on around them, the very things that they want to escape from. Noises such as a fly constantly being present around the person and the noise of machines, which suggest that they work in a factory of some sort. So, this is the impression that I got from the song. I really like it though. There are multiple layers to it and there is so much going on that I am sure that I will uncover more, with subsequent listens. That is something that I like in music, when the listener is challenged to fully contemplate all of the sounds of the music. Last edited by broady_l : 10-03-2008 at 09:50 PM. |

Thank you very much, I'm glad you get the concept and let it sink in a bit. Thanks for listening.

I never actually listened to this before. This is really fantastic stuff. One of the best things I've ever heard on this forum. I love the depth to it, and the overall melody is very nice. I can also really appreciate the development of the whole piece. Have you ever made any other tracks like this? If so I'd love to hear them.

![]() My only other 100% original electronic song is "Happy Fun Land". It's more erratic and less melodic, but more narrative and just as immersive, if not more than this one. I need to do some more original material because the inspiration is there now, but it's almost to a point where the accumulation of possible material is tough to sort through and decide where to even start. That and I feel that in times like these, it's important to watch for signs rather than write songs, at least for the time being. I can't decide what is more paralyzing, watching the economy collapse, or knowing that I saw the events of today over 2 years ago and I'm afraid that the rest of what I saw is indeed going to happen. This week is going to be ugly, especially tuesday. But maybe by the weekend I'll force myself to plug in the MR8 and put something on virtual wax.

Incredibly good!
This may sound strange, but i think the first part (especially the intro with the rain) Sounds like game music. It's very daydreamish, so I'll go with everyone else and say that the title is very fitting. I like how you made two major parts of the whole thing. The instruments kind of supports each other. It's a song you can listen to many times and hear differently each time. It feels like you're telling me a story when I hear this. It's like a little movie in my head. I bet others think so as well... But I think everyones "movie" is different beccause there's so much to hear in your song. Good work! Also.. Was that a V8 at the end? |

Thank you very much for listening and giving your feedback.
It's nice to hear that it invokes a story and images in your head, that was my intention. And hopefully the "movie" is a bit different each time for everyone. As for the engine "lub a dub" sound towards the end, I believe it's actually an idling chainsaw. But it does indeed sound like a V8 or Harley at times, so good guess. ![]() Thanks again for your kind words. ![]()
