Okay, I know I may be the only one here with such elaborate fantasies about being in a band, but I have written a description of Iron Horse, my dream band, which I hope to form in the future... and I'd love to read some "dream-band" descriptions from you, but if you don't have any, that's fine by me.
Here goes:

Iron Horse are a blues-rock group from Leicester, England.

STYLE AND INFLUENCES
Iron Horse play blues, blues-rock, and occasionally country rock, hardrock and heavy metal. The band’s style is often described as “retro rock” for its resemblance to the classic rock sound of the 1960s and 1970s. The group cite several artists of this era as influences on their sound, most notably Ten Years After, Canned Heat, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Status Quo, Cream, ZZ Top and Livin’ Blues, as well as bluesmen like John Lee Hooker, Howlin’ Wolf and Buddy Guy.
The band also have a rule that all their songs should be playable live, note by note; therefore, they do not use overdubs, guest musicians or special effects.

BAND MEMBERS
- Roger Johnson: Bass, vocals.
Iron Horse’s frontman, and the only band member born in Leicester. Although best known for his fast walking-bass lines, he also likes to add a funky edge to his playing.

- Andreas “Andrew” Hofmann: Drums.
Born in Freiburg, Germany. Having been a heavy metal drummer before he joined Iron Horse, he has developed a very heavy style of drumming. He always uses two bass drums, and his fills are often very elaborate.

- Camiel “Uncut Rubber” van Altenborg: Keyboards, vocals.
Born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The founder of Iron Horse, and the band’s main composer and lyricist. He is known for his preference for mechanical or electromechanical (rather than electronical) instruments, such as the Hammond organ, acoustic piano, Hohner Clavinet and Rhodes electric piano. He also takes over vocal duties on tracks which do not feature any keyboard instruments.

- Eddy Thistleton: Guitar, harmonica.
Born in Sheffield, Thistleton earned some fame as a blues guitarist before joining Iron Horse. He is a true bluesman, and frequently uses the “slide guitar” playing technique. His raw, bluesy guitar (and, on very bluesy tracks, harmonica) playing is a major factor in establishing Iron Horse’s trademark sound.

DISCOGRAPHY
Iron Horse’s albums are always released on LP as well as on compact disc, because the band members prefer the former medium.

- Tea, Eggs, Toast
Iron Horse’s first studio album, consisting almost entirely of light-hearted blues and blues-rock tracks.
Side one:
1. Servant
2. Tea, Eggs, Toast (The Breakfast Boogie)
3. You Know You Need Me
4. Beef, Bread And Beer
5. Fairy Tales
Side two:
6. Hit The Motörway
7. Strawberry Jam
8. Me And The Devil Blues (Robert Johnson cover)
9. All Hail The Cinquefoil
10. The Internationale (written by Eugène Pottier and Pierre De Geyter)

- Night Mail
Iron Horse’s second album sounds a lot darker and heavier than their first, and contains more social and political commentary.
Side one:
1. Steeds Of Steel
2. Last March Of The Miners
3. You Know You Want It
4. Retreat Into Madness
Side two:
5. Fight
6. Night Mail
7. Whatever Happened To The Real World
8. Sister Elektra

- Speedhawk
On this EP, the band take their first steps into heavy metal, with five fast, thrashy songs.
Side one:
1. Speedhawk
2. Blackshirt Nutjob Party
3. Get This Train A-Rolling Again
Side two:
4. Boots, Bikes And Steel
5. Bomber Command

- Thumbs Up For Tyneside
This is Iron Horse’s first live album, recorded in Newcastle (hence the title).
Side one:
1. Steeds Of Steel
2. Get This Train A-Rolling Again
3. Last March Of The Miners
4. Welcome To Hell (Venom cover)
Side two:
5. Sister Elektra
Side three:
6. Fairy Tales
7. Night Mail
8. Hit The Motörway
9. Blackshirt Nutjob Party
Side four:
10. Tea, Eggs, Toast (The Breakfast Boogie)
11. Whatever Happened To The Real World
12. The Internationale
13. Beef, Bread And Beer

- The band have announced that they are working on a third studio album, but hardly anything is known about this yet.

STANCE
Iron Horse are a strongly politically engaged band; when they perform live, they always hoist a red flag onstage to symbolise their commitment to social democracy, and often hold improvised speeches to the audience on political and cultural matters, especially before playing the political song “Last March Of The Miners” about the 1984 miners’ strike, or the culturally critical “Whatever Happened To The Real World”. Much of their work is filled with a longing for traditional, pre-1980s English culture.
Other politically oriented songs of theirs are “Fairy Tales”, attacking religion, and “Blackshirt Nutjob Party” (a pun referring to the British National Party or BNP), a vicious anti-fascist song.

LIVE PERFORMANCES
Iron Horse are known for their “clean” live shows – meaning that they never use screens, or any stage props except for the flagpole with the red flag, and their light shows are quite simple, using only white light. Another typical feature of Iron Horse concerts is the interest the band take in the location where they are playing: in France, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium (and all other countries where French, Dutch or German is spoken), the band always adress the audience in the local native language, and they often incorporate local traditionals into their songs. Examples are their playing the Rowwen Hèze hit “Bestel Mar” in the Dutch province of Limburg, the “Düsseldorfer Altbierlied” in Düsseldorf (Germany), Johann Strauss Jr.’s waltz “An Der Schönen Blauen Donau” in his hometown Vienna, the provincial anthem in the Dutch province of Groningen, Venom's "Welcome To Hell" in Newcastle, where that band comes from, and local football chants in Van Altenborg’s town of birth, Rotterdam.
They also play their version of “The Internationale” in English, French, Dutch or German depending on the location.
Iron Horse tend to stretch their songs at live performances with long solos for all members; their jam "Sister Elektra", whose studio version is 17 minutes long, is often expanded to half an hour or more in concert.

I could just see it now:

Genesis of Disaster

Influence and Sound: Influenced heavily by Emilie Autumn and Her Bloody Crumpets. With this said, the music has a sound that is tragic with sarcastic humor hidden tightly within the lyrics. It can only be described as gothic humor set to music.

Members:

Lady Cyanide: lead guitar and vocals
Lord Pestilance: backing vocals and bass
Mistress Monoxide : piano and backing vocals
Lady Plague: drums

Discography:

Pitiful Playdate
(released only on vinyl)
1. Rainbows and Axes
2. Prison Cell Fun
3. Spreading the Plague
4. The Boys Have Lost Their Sticks
5. Snowflake Madness

Tragic Conversations with the Living Room Wall
(released as a joke, made in less than a month, is their most famous CD to date)
1. Introduction to Poisonous Flowers
2. I Shouldn't Have Eaten the Tea
3. But What of Sir Sporkington?
4. Little Suicide Girl
5. Mary Had A Little Lamb Who's Fleece Was Black as Coal
6. Wait, THAT one was the poison?
7. Water the Horses
8. Vampires Kill the Living
9. Little Mary Sue

Sis Sporkington Has His Revenge
(single)
1. Sir Sporkington Has His Revenge

Tales of Grotesque Nature
(their last CD before Lady Cyanide decided she hated the spotlight and settled somewhere in Oregon to raise chickens, only to realise she needed to travel too much and reforming with the band)
1. Not Nearly Enough Blood, You See
2. How Could You Forget the Chains?
3. Vampire Club (cover of a Voltaire song)
4. Torture is Funner With Two
5. You Grab the Mace, and I'll Grab the Shoe
6. Demons on Vacation
7. My Ugly Old Lady Has Fleas
8. Did You Pack the Poison?
9. Save the Heart for Last

Music is being accumulated for the next album.

Live performances: Anyone lucky enough to see Genesis of Disaster live is in for a treat. They involve their entire audience in the show. The stage, which takes close to two hours to set up, is covered in grotesquely innocent things, like poorly bandaged Teddy Bears and tombstones with the names of Santa Clause, the Tooth Fairy, and other childhood fantasies surrounding them. Lady Cyanide has been known to walk to the bar (there's always one where they performed) and grabbing a drink after finishing the set. They ineract with their fans.

That is my dream band.

Oh man... here goes. Pretty much a deathcore band with all the best musicians I've played along with at one time or another.

Acedia
(means Apathy in Latin)

Style: Deathmetal/Deathcore/Indie
They take the deathcore genre and add a richer percentage of deathmetal. The riffing generally takes on a lighter tone, portraying the generally happy feeling that indie rock projects.

Influences: The Acacia Strain, Strapping Young Lad, KillWhitneyDead, Emmure, All Shall Perish, Minus the Bear, ETC...

Members:
Vocals: Bill A. (Trapaw)
Lead Guitar: Chris Morr
Rhythm Guitar: Nijall Valey
Bass: Kyle Orr(but only if we get to duct tape his face shut)
Drums: Eric Smith

Discography:
Cold As Clay (written in Trapaw's garage studio, the CD that got them signed.)
1: Bright Lights
2: The Day John Smith Came Home
3: Promises Of Candy And Duct Tape
4: Six Miles A Head
5: Disenfranchised
6: Lovecraft Out Of Arkham
7: Idiot's Guide To Homocide
8: Terrifying Logic Of Fairytales
9: Godsent
Acedia toured about the western US with Born Of Osiris, All Shall Perish, bands of that nature for about 6 months before going back home and writing their next album.

Proud Like A God
1: You Have No Evidence
2: So How Can You Prosecute
3: So Long Been Dreaming
4: For No Apparent Reason
5: Skinless Friday
6: Dinner At Katherine's
7: Slow It The Fuck Down
8: The Dirty Secrets Club
9: Hussy Strut
10: Binary
Once again, Acedia would go out on tour, making their rounds about the U.S. before kicking Kyle out of the band as soon as they got home for being an insufferable dick.
They are currently writing their third album and seeking a new bassist.

Live Shows: Anyone who actually makes it to an Acedia show, might not make it out. Very minimalist as far as props, Acedia makes up for it with crowd interaction, frequently letting the fans get the mic for a line or two each song. Stage dives, guitar spins, physical contact with fans, general disregard for human safety, all of these are prevalent at an Acedia concert.

Vocalist is well known for constantly giving the middle finger, tossing the mic into the crowd and reeling it back in, and jumping into the crowd.
Lead guitarist is known for playing amazing solos with his eyes closed and sometimes bopping a rowdy show-goer in the head with his guitar.
Rhythm guitarist is known for putting his guitar down half way through a song and jumping into the pit to mosh and attack a hardcore kid or two. Also guitar spins.
Bassist is well known for being a general prick, resting his foot on people close to the stage, spitting on people, cussing them.
Drummer is known for being a badass drummer with an amazing sporadic doublekick.

Lyrical Content: Acedia is a deathcore band, so some songs are on the graphically violent side. However, many of the songs take on a humorously tongue in cheek tone regarding a variety of subjects like music, people, celebrities(See The Dirty Secrets Club), and big businesses like Tyco and Enron(Disenfranchised).

Anyways...That's my fantasy band.

Oh laudy they're all so elaborate. Meh, I'll give it a go.

My Sweetheart the Drunk
(it's a Jeff Buckley reference)

My friend and I already want to do this and hopefully will in the near future. We would like to blend Emo (not pop emo, Off Minor emo), Indie, Post-Hardcore, Post-Rock and Alternative together. And if the band ever gets off the ground then I'd really like to incorporate electronica.

Me: Guitar, violin (oh god, hopefully), vocals (probably back-up and doing most of the screaming)
My friend: Guitar, piano (he's a brilliant pianist), vocals (probably lead, maybe screaming too)
My other friend: Drummer (he's a brilliant drummer), vocals (screaming)
Non-existant person: Bass (no one will play with us because there are 0 bassists in my town)

We've got a lot of ideas and yeah that's basically how I want my band to be.
