From a new crop of fresh Nor Cal dub sounds, Redding, CA-based The Melodramatics blend reggae, punk rock, and ska in an upbeat, fun, and energetic style all their own. Selected as High Times Magazine’s Unsigned Artist of October 2010, The Melodramatics fill dance floors with young and old wherever they play. 2011 marks the debut of the bands first full-length studio album.

I listened to clips of 3 songs on youtube and it's ok. It's refreshing to hear some staccato organ and some reggae, but it sounds like it's trying too hard to be like sublime/311 and I felt that the vocals were a bit weak and/or untrained.

I like your attitude and wish you success, you admit your weaknesses and seem determined to improve. For what it's worth, your singing is better than half of the shit bands that have a contract with major labels, at least you don't use autotune. It's tough to find your own sound when doing music like ska/reggae because it usually involves an already narrow set of variables when it comes to instruments and rhythm patterns. Perhaps you could find an instrument, effect, or sound that you don't hear often, and incorporate it into your songs. Be the only ska/reggae band that uses cowbell, or digeridoo, or tuba, you get the idea.

Good luck and thanks for sharing.
