But You're So Hot Image: ![]() Review: Ever So Sweet To open the album “The Room’s Too Cold”, The Early November used a song that would later be the one they were known for, “Ever So Sweet”. Now this band has been around for quite a while yet if you ask a random person to name one of their songs, this is it. It has, in my opinion, eared it as this song uses a great combination vocals, guitar(acoustic), and violin giving it a great effect. Something That Produces Results After such a great song you would wonder how you would compare to it. Well, it is a hard task and this song shows really how hard it is. I’m not going to say much about this track because it is really rather bland and isn’t something I would want to tell you about, just see it as the one flaw this album has. The Mountain Range In My Living Room A more upbeat song than the last two is here. It still keeps a slower tempo but while giving off more energy. What really makes this song shine is the chorus. Now in most songs that is the weaker spot as it gets repetitive but here it seems to be the highlight of the song. Sesame, Smeshame Now four tracks into the album and you still haven’t heard a song that would be playable at a show. This song would be one that could do that. Now it isn’t like most other bands that have songs that you go crazy about when played but the song does have a really solid beat to it, a real toe-taper. Baby Blue Back to the pace of the rest of the album. The opening of this song would lead you to believe that is was a slower song. After all, it is just singing and a single guitar, but it doesn’t stay that way. Once that is over the song gets going and sets the record for most energetic so far on the album. The one thing that I think holds this album back is the guitars that really get boring quickly. The Course Of Human Life This song has a interesting opening. It isn’t all that difficult but something about it makes you want to listen to it. It is quite and intriguing. About half way through it though it picks up pace and by the time the time the words start you don’t even realize that 1:20 of the song is already over. Dinner At The Money Table Another acoustic song played much like Ever So Sweet with just the words, guitar, and violin. The main difference between the two songs is there is no “big” part in this song as it stays conservative throughout, never getting too loud or fast. It is a nice break in the album and is actually one of my favorite songs. Exchanging Two Hundred Still in a slower mode when this song starts. The pace does pick up a bit from the last song with the addition of the drums back in but it still is kept modest and slow for the greater part of the song. Though, once again, at the chorus is where the song changes pace for a quicker outburst of noise. My Sleep Pattern Changed If you were able to name more than one song from the album(ever so sweet) this probably is the other one. Not to be sexist but this song is widely preferred by the female audience. I’m not too sure what it is about this song but if you just hear it, it is boring, but if you listen to it is feels a lot quicker and more exciting. Fluxy Finally after three song of a much slower beat the album picks up again with Fluxy. Sadly, it isn’t the best of song but that is largely ignored because it has a very catchy rhythm. But the only real flaw I could find is it doesn’t feel as though the guitars and drums get along so to say. Everything's Too Cold... But You're So Hot With how the whole album when you would expect to get a slow song to end it, and you’re right. You get six minutes and some odd seconds of closure to the album. It is largely more focused on words than anything else on the record but unless you’re in one of those moods it is pretty hard to sit through. Final Score (out of ten): 9.5 |

Yeah! I've had this CD for sometime and I really love it.
Then again, Drive-Thru Records never disappoints me! |
