I'm sure C1 has met quite a few musicians...
Who here as met any musicians? Which ones? When was it? Pretty much the only thing I can say for this is that my brother got his picture taken with the singer of Project 86. Yeah... that's about all... |

I've met a few. My friend's parents used to play in an awesome local power metal band called Witch Hunt, but the band broke up. Other than that, Joacim Cans of Hammerfall gave me part of a sandwich and a bottle of water before a show. That was pretty cool.
Of course, as a member of an orchestra, I know a lot of musicians.

I've talked to Janik Gers of Iron Maiden, over the phone. (My Auntie used to drink with him and went to school with him). He gave me a plectrum too, with his name on.
I'm also tutored by a guy called Alan Williamson, he isn't famous really, but he is one hell of a musician and composer. www.alanwilliamson.com Any musicians should check his stuff out, and any fans of instrumental stuff. I've talked to Jari Maenpaa (from Wintersun and ex-Ensiferum) via e-mail, haha. Doesn't count for much that. |

I never actually got to talk to much, but I got George "CorpseGrinders" autograph, a long long time ago, when he first joined CC, he seemed quite tall and scary.

Most recently John Pizzarelli... very cool guy, we talked guitars and amps and stuff and he signed the pickguard of my Starcaster (I really need to update the photo on my website).
I went on tour with Gatemouth Brown as his opener for a few months back in 97. That was an amazing learning experience! He was one of those guys that was a total jerk until he knew you were cool and not out to screw 'em, then you were his best buddy. Had a lot of stories about the ol' days with segregation and all that kinda explained the way he was. A good friend and I was very sorry to see him go last year. ![]() Inadvertantly had some private lessons with Robben Ford years back. One of the local stores brought him in for clinics that I was the only one at so I got to sit down with him and pick his brain and just BS. One of the first times I went to Vegas I went to go get my dad at the blackjack tables and he was sitting next to James Brown, who he had played for back in the early 70s. Listenin' to my dad and James reminisce about the days before I was born was very cool! Some others I met were B.B., Buddy Guy, Scotty Moore, Model T Ford, Rufus Thomas, R.L. Burnside, Santana, Tom Scholz, Steven Tyler, Brad Whitford and Joey Kramer, Alvin and Ric Lee, Sam Phillips (not really a musician but definitely belongs in this list), Sammy Butera, Dicky Barrett, Taj Mahal, Weird Al, and the great Sir Paul McCartney

![]() Anyhoo... Musicians I've met are fairly limited. Back in the day I met some of the guys from Overkill, decent guys. Also met the singer from one of the bigger named 80s bands that had fallen off of the face of the earth (I think Survivor, bad memory, bad!) while the band I was in was checking out a studio. It was kind of amusing, as he came walking up to us while we were checking out the place, introduced himself, obviously expecting 'ooohs and aaahs.' Instead he got puzzled looks. He mentioned the band he was in, can't say we were oohing and aaaahing at that point either. |

Oh, forgot the GooGoo Dolls and Barenaked Ladies... sometimes hard thinkin' of them as "someones" now when you rember them as guys playin' the frat party down the street!

A taste? Alright.
Pennywise, the Bloodhound gang, the Misfits, Rancid, Rocket from the Crypt, Tripping Daisy, Blind Melon (I was extremely young for that one, but Shannon Hoon was really cool), the Horrorpops, John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten), Bad Religion, Anti-Flag, the Beastie Boys, Henry Rollins, the Dropkick Murphys (THEY were probably the funnest guys to drink with), Flogging Molly, Green Day, Blink 182, NoFX, Good Riddance, Guttermouth, Face to Face, Bif Naked, Mest, Avenged Sevenfold (briefly), From First to Last... Those are the ones that are coming to mind at the moment. The majority were met while touring back in my groupie days, though a few I've hung out with just recently and met through old band friends that I keep in touch with and hang out with when they come through town. I don't tour much anymore.

Ah, now let me savour that for a moment...
That definitely is an impressive list, though, especially since those are just the ones off the top of your head! |

Sheesh, compared to Circle One's list, mine is pretty laughable but here goes...
Winger (though why I'm admitting that, I have no idea...), Damn Yankees, Uncle Kracker, Tech Nine, Squirrel Nut Zippers and Type O Negative. There are a few more but I can't remember right now...

Don't compare your list to mine to, MIM. You have to remember that I was a groupie for 8 years and toured everywhere with bands. And the only reason I still meet so many is because I'm still good friends with a lot of the bands I used to tour with so I still get free tickets and passes to shows and festivals and shit. Without that, believe me, I highly doubt I would have met anywhere near as many bands and musicians that I have.

Curious to know who has ran into who in the concert circuit, or any other place. I have met Mike Gordon, Warren Haynes, Allen Woody, Xavier Rudd, and Dave Lambert. Each one was an outstanding moment in my life. Any similiar stories?
