Is there anybody with some knowledge about finger picks that can help me with something? I've been using fingerpicks to get a "picky" sound on my bass, seeing as I can't flatpick on my bass to save my life (strings are just so much thicker than with guitar). I've been using a pair of plastic fingerpicks my parents gave me last Christmas along with my banjo, but I noticed a lot of places sell primarily metal fingerpicks. Is there any big difference between metal and plastic fingerpicks?

I bet th edifference would just the same tonal difference you would find between metal and plastic flatpicks. My bronze (or maybe it's brass) pick has a fuller, thicker, duller sound than the plastic picks, which create a sharper, thinner sound.
Different metals create different sounds, though. |

The metal is going to be slightly heavier, sharper in tone, and stiffer. A plastic finger pick is going to be warmer, lighter, and a bit more flexible.
That's about it. You don't get any benefits with either, it's just whatever you prefer. |
