The first song I learned on the guitar was "Mother" by Pink Floyd.

Well, the first song I learned on the guitar was actually "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen, but to be fair, I learned the bass part, and I only "learned it on the guitar" because I didn't yet have a bass guitar.

First song I learned when I first started playing was a easy chord version of Green Day's Time of your life. But the first song I taught myself after I gave up and then got back into it again was the Chili Pepper's Under the bridge. I always remember how to play the songs that mean a lot to me (I mean as in the first song i taught myself etc.)

The first song I tried playing was Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes, but the first song I actually learned was Fall Children by AFI.

And now...I don't remember how to play either one of them.

I gotta go with what Zephyr said- I know that I'd love to change the world was amongst the first 10 or 20 songs I first started messing with.
The absolute first I think was "All day and All of the NIght" by the Kinks..
swwweeet Lord am I dating myself here or what?? LOL.
Others that were firsts on the list were Heaven and Hell by Sabbath and Godzilla by Blue Oyster Cult, but I think I was messing around probably right after I stopped watching Sesame Street so I really can't recall those days with absolute clarity...

Just joking around. but I'd LOVE to watch somebody's face if I could give that answer with a straight face.. that's the equivalent of saying you learned Toccata and Fugue before you learned to tie your shoes or something..

That's fun to do. I like to tell people (on a completely unrelated subject) that I chose my college because they were the first ones to send me informational literature and that I chose my major because the books were cheap.

Hey! I love that song. Although, playing it on the guitar isn't easy, it's still a neat tune.
