Green Day:American Idiot Review
Its always discussed by music fanatics and punk rock fans, or people who like banging there heads together. Is are Green Day the greatest band in the World? Well with the evidence of there 'GROUNDBREAKING MASTERPIECE' American Idiot album they well damn could be. 'The Anti American' contingent serve up a truly masterful array of songs that dig deep into portal of instrumental music. With the opening beat of hysteria of American Idiot, to the mellow softening of Wake Me Up When September Ends. The vocal talent and writing from 'MUSICAL WIZARD' Billy Joe Armstrong are explioted to the full extreme of musical 'paramount'.

'GROUNBREAKING
MASTERPIECE'

Armstrong's grunted verbal sound and radical lyrics explain the full extent of a such respected and ultimately talented individual. The Album fits perfectly into the mainstream of the music 'Phenomenon'. With more monumental euphony that delve into the cognitive barrier and create a sense of relentless enjoyment. Every piece of music that littered the record, have been executed with care and belief. The songs are made to keep the fire burning in the heart, its produced to make the pulse race in a blissful strain.

The rest of the songs on the album are prime for the style of Green Day. They emulate past compositions, and the record has the same 'AURA' as mega bash DOOKIE ALBUM. One song on the record (Jesus of Suburbia)lasts a colossal nine minutes and twelve seconds. It is a sound of complete genius and overpowering energy. Billy Joe's expertise justifies Green Day's efforts, his tone of voice changes, the lyrics gel like a duck to water.

The four songs that stand out, are singles Boulevard of Broken Dreams. the mellow contribution that seeps sentiment, is the emotional wake me up when september ends. head bashing first single American Idiot and fourth single the politically involved Holiday. The less recognised songs on the are just as 'Mind Blowing' The drum infused 'Are we the waiting' contains a rip of magic beyond a magicians capabilities' The pill popping Give Me Novacaine, Letterbomb, Whats yer Name, St Jimmy, She's a rebel, the jumbo Homecoming, and the song with a sublime chorus 'extraordinary Girl'.

2004 was the year of Green Day's finest musical score. There American Idiot catalogue created propaganda and unmatched success. so after a long 5 years in there comfort zone, under the musical skin, they produced one of most complete albums that music has taken into its money laden hands. Now is Green Day the greatest band in World? Just listen to the Album and delve into a musical paradise, then make up your mind.

Well I have to say that American Idiot is an ok album, being "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" my favourite song.

"American Idiot" is a strong first song, continued by a "Jesus of Suburbia". "Holiday" and "She's a Rebel" are also great songs.

If you like just listen to Dookie, their best album.

I personally like American Idiot. I think Are We The Waiting is the strongest single in this album though? It's the only thing that rings a bell to most people I know.

I'd have to agree with Tila though, Boulevard of Broken Dreams does not compare though. Not even close.

I used to own every Green Day record as far back as 1039 Smooth Out Slappy Hours(which no one else seems to know about...). But when I turned 16 and got a job at a local grocery store they played "Time of Your Life" EVERY OTHER SONG! I can't even stand to hear them anymore.

That sucks. I hate it when good songs get ruined by overplay.

Yeah.

I still listen to Smooth Out Slappy Hours. It has that really raw sense of harmony and motion that really defined the pop punk genre, then again, it released almost 20 years ago. Popular culture was completely different.

I think 'American Idiot' is one of their best songs. 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' is probably their number one though. I've never been much of a fan of 'Wake Me Up When September Ends' to be honest, but 'She's a Rebel' is great.

I like all of those songs a lot. There's really no Green Day song I don't like.

I like this album a little more after each listen; not too bad IMO. But definitely not their best.

It seems like with eyeliner comes lesser Greenday. I noticed on the cover of AP(? i think) they were anticipating their new CD and none of them looked like emo retards so I'm hopeful about their future.

They used to be punk then American Idiot was born and threw it in the trash can.

They are one of the top selling bands so I have to give respect.

-ahem-

I would recomend you listen to any of the following bands and then re-think that statement.

The Ramones
The New York Dolls
The Sex Pistols
Black Flag
NoFx
Pennywise
The Buzzcocks

Okay, well I have already heard all those bands other than The Buzzcocks. I never said they were like huge punk, but they are somewhat punk.

Great review, not so great album. The only songs I really like are Holiday and Homecoming, but then again I'm not that big on Green Day

I think there is a vast differance between Ramones and th eothe rbands on that list, but then again "Punk" is used pretty loosely nowadays.
