I'd like to see what kind of guitars everyone plays. I have an acoustic Yamaha and a Fender Stratocaster in black and white.

Well, I own too many guitars to list right now. My favorite is 1963 Fender Strat in sunburst. She's my baby!

Well, I own these in order I got them and then I'll list what I did to them:

Ibanez GRX40
- First Guitar
- I'll never mod it

Sonata Acoustic/Electric
- Well I can't really do much to an A/E now can I?
- Where Blue Angel resides

Ibanez RG1570
- My baby
- Replaced stock pickups with:
DiMarzio PAF
DiMarzio Red Velvet
DiMarzio Super Distortion

Ibanez Talman TC420
- Originally had a DiMarzio PAF in neck (currently in my RG1570) and an unknown piece of crap in the bridge.
- Replaced pickups with:
Seymour Duncan Jazz
Seymour Duncan Custom Custom
- Raplaced pickups again:
DiMarzio Air Classic
DiMarzio Norton

Ibanez RG570
- Replaced most the electronics including the selector switch and added push-pull potentiometers.
- Replaced the pickups:
DiMarzio Air Norton
DiMarzio Blue Velvet
DiMarzio Tone Zone

Pictures can be found at my photobucket:

And here is my baby:

LFD, I believe you may have just given me an eyegasm. Maybe it's how the light is reflecting off of it, but that is an awesome pic.

Nice collection you got there MusicMan, may I inquire as to what in the world the red guitar with the teal pickguard is though? I've only seen that shaped pickguard on a bass, yet that's not a bass. It's interesting...

Hahaha I knew someone would ask. That is the first electric I ever got. It's a Peavey Patriot with a handmade pickguard. The old pickguard was poor quality and the screws were no longer able to hold it on very well. So I decided to get a new pickguard, and do something creative. I was inspired by Jimi Hendrix to do something crazy. I poured a little lighter fluid on my pickguard and lit my guitar on fire and took a nice picture of it.

But then the trouble started. I looked everywhere for a pickguard that would fit a Patriot, and only found a couple of ugly ones for like $30. So I decided to make my own pickguard. I found something around the house that would work, so I cut it out, drilled some screw holes, and attached it. I'm not 100% sure, but I think I got the material from a rather flat sided trash can. LOL

I haven't really played it since around that time, I've always kept it as a guinea pig, I have always wanted to do crazy modifications to it.

My main guitar is a Fender 40th Anniversary American Strat in wine red. I love it to death.

Other guitars include, Gould strat cope, Epiphone acoustic and an Epiphone semihollow Les Paul.

My favorite guitar has gotta be my Strat. Mexican Fat Strat, I don't feel like listing all the changes I have done to it and are about to do to it, it's in the guitar modding thread.

My secondary electric is a Agile AL-3000 Les Paul knock-off in Cherry Sunburst. Set me back around $375, definitely worth the money.

Started out on a Squier Affinity Strat, and I'm too much of a pansy to sell it.

Also have 2 acoustics. I have a crappy Jasmine by Takamine that a friend gave to me, its a good one to bring around and not really care if it gets beat up. My good acoustic is an Ibanez AEL20, and I snagged it on sale at Guitar Center for $225 (regular $350). I dont really have any complaints about it. Sounds great plugged in or on its own, got a built-in tuner, looks fantastic. The binding is a little cracked in some spots, but its all on the back so I'm fine with it.

Very nice I'm extremely jealous of your 40th Strat in wine red and the semi-hollow body LP. You've got good taste for guitars!

The semi hollow LP also has two cutaways.

Another thing though is that it's ancient. I mean early 70's ancient. Same goes for the acoustic.

Well my best is my alveraz 12 then my finder 12 then my yamaha 12 then the ovation 12.
I find they all bring a different sound to the songs
I am not much into pedals so I can't comment on them.

My 1992 "She's only 13" Ibanez RG550DX. Mmm, Lazer Blue. Dimarzio PAF Pros (2) and a HS-2 in the middle, wired for single coil mode only.

Moving on.
My 1988 "She's only 17" Charvel Model 1A. Modified for HSH, Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge, stock middle, PAF pro in the neck.
Im putting a strathead neck on it soon, with a green paintjob and a recessed floyd. Its gonna be pretty damn cool.

My 1969 Yamaha FG-230. Terrible action, but a sweet, sweet tone.

My ???? Fender DG-11. First Real guitar.

1995 Peavy Predator. I learned to play on this axe.

And, last, my 1987 (she's as old as me! They'res totally a spiritual connection between me and this guitar) Ibanez RG550BK. Ugly black color, but Its gettin a fancy rattlecan paintjob sometime soon. Or just some fancy pickups. Or both. Ignore the shittyness of the indoor picture, my camera blows like none other.

EDIT: I wanted to fix your sideways pic so I rotated it, and added some fun to it.

I know it's not lube, just wanted to mess with ya. No need to mail it, but thanks for offering.

And yes, I have an old FG-230 too, I have no idea what year it's from but I'd guess it's at least 20 years old. It does get a great tone, it's the best $50 I've ever spent on guitars.

Thats crazy.

They were made only 2 years: 1969 and 1970 according to the info I found on the Yamaha site a year or so ago, but I cant find it anymore.

How does yours play?

I don't play guitar, but my dad has a Gibson 335. It's pretty cool. My brother used it last year in my high school talent show (I played bass), and he got a lot of ooohs and aaaahs about it, so I guess it's a good one...

Those are some nice guitars, the vintage ones sound wonderful of course. I would guess, seeing your dad owns it, that it's rather old. I may be wrong, but those are some very nice guitars. Rather big, but just about the only big guitar I like past the Gretch White Falcon

Wow, I did a little research and found that these are worth a little money. Mine is in good shape, just a little normal usage wear and the laminate has faded a little over the last 35 years. It plays great, the neck hasn't moved much so the action is still great. I can't play it for more than an hour or so because it is a little tough on the fingers and wrist, being a wide-necked 12 string. The tone is great, it really sounds amazing. It puts out plenty of volume and produces great low end and well as crisp highs. The warm tone it has is really nice.

I bought my FG-230 from a co-worker in 2001. I think he got it from his dad but never learned to play it so he sold it to me for $50. I it to death and am very lucky to have stumbled upon it. It's a great guitar!

Thats sweet.

My action's real high, to where intonation is miserably fucked.

The body is warped, and the bridge is tilting up.

Im trying to decide whether to fix it, or buy a new acoustic.

So far, I haven't found another acoustic with as warm of tone. I may end up sending mine off to the doctor, if its curable.

Have you ever tried tuning down a whole step and then putting a capo on the second fret? or tune down 1/2 step and capo on the first?

After reading a little more about the FG-230 I've found that a few people have used this method to overcome action problems, it might be worth a shot.
