Well, we finished our song! And by "we" I mean "me and my dad". We made the song by randomly choosing books from my bookshelf (all of which were on the first half of the middle shelf), choosing one sentence from each book, and piecing those sentences together in as coherent a fashion as possible. Then based on those lyrics and their flow, we tried to think of a musical style to compliment them.

Here are the lyrics

Half the Middle Shelf
because it is a thousand pities
never to say what one feels
There were ups and downs at the business
I cursed myself for my spitefulness
No animal shall sleep in a bed
His men waited for him to say it out

CHORUS
As for me I mimicked the cannon
Boom Boom
Sucks to your assmar
Boom boom
As for me I mimicked the cannon
Boom boom
It was good
it was good

I heard those around me whispering
that the poison, the exercise,
and the fall had ruined me as a racer
the other fellow was about 30
and dressed about as ornery
He tried to picture them old

CHORUS

BRIDGE
But the music had stopped
i must pause here
for it requires all my fortitude to recall
the memory of the frightful events

CHORUS

It's kinda catchy. I like the instrumentals, and the most of the lyrics. But some of the lyrics seem like random sentances, or maybe I just don't get them

They ARE just random sentences... Did you read how we came up with the lyrics?

Okay. For a second I thought you read the first sentence of a book to get a story for the lyrics.

Four views? One review? Not even the whole review team will review it? I feel shafted.

Well that pretty much sucks. Out of all the people whose music I've listened to, none of them can listen back. Even the site owner and people whose very job on the site is listening to music and giving reviews... Nobody except RBBP can write even a sentence. Maybe this site has outgrown me.

I listened the other day but had to leave when replying. I thought it was a pretty novel concept (pun intended). It was nice to see you've got Golding on your shelves. Perhaps it would work better if you took the time to randomly select some sentences that actually flowed together better. As it is, the lyrics are a bit like a fragmented Sonic Youth song. But it sounds like you had fun, and that's all that matters, right? Thanks for sharing.

Sorry got busy and missed this one... Sounds like Neil young or something. Not bad work the only thing I really don't like is the artificial drums.

It's nice that you and your ol man are working together..

When I was a lad my old man hated everything I did musically (turn that $^#* down, he would always yell..*L*).. so enjoy what you have~! *G*

I liked the little tune.. nice stuff.. I am not much of a music critic.. I am a musician so my instincts are not to critique.. that being noted I think it holds up well on it's own..

Yeah, the only drummer I knew couldn't find whatever piece of hardware he needed to record his drums onto his computer, so we had to just find a drum loop. If anybody here would like to contribute drums, though, i cold provide a drumless mixdown for you.

I've just had a listen, it's a nice song and nice melody and writing the lyrics how you did with books is an interesting idea. Your demo showcases the actual song which is the most important thing to show off anyway. Keep on writing and demoing as much material as possible is my advice. Cheers Kris
