Welcome to the third thread of the music of the Hero!!! Just one song this time, but more will follow.
Its called Hero's Envy, it was inspired by Brain and Stringbender, reminding me to get off my ass and play some damn guitar!!! Hope you guys like it. Its played in a clean tone most of the time, then a wah burning tap shred at the end. The only thing is the ending is kinda abrupt, as my recording equipment hated me that day I made it. ![]() Plus, Its a link because I can't upload stuff here, it always blanks out. I hope I can keep it here, EDIT: PLEASE SEE NEVERLIFE'S POST FOR THE SONG!!!! Last edited by Hero Of The Day : 08-06-2008 at 03:43 AM. |

Why, thank you Neverlife!
Anyway, as for the song. Great guitar work! It's mixed really low, though - it almost seems like this is a drum track with a guitar for a backing instrument. Did you program those drums? But, yes, the guitar work is great. You don't have anything to be envoius about - you're doing fine. ![]() |

I'm guessing your pedal didn't cost 500 dollars?
It has everything, I even recorded the song on it. ![]() |

Holy funk! - the speed is INSANE! The tone is pretty sweet too. -the playing.amzaing. You really have been Practicing big time- I can hear it! a couple of times when you were just holding a note and bending/ it sounded like you could have bended a bit higher b/c a couple notes sounded kinda flat.
a couple of places it sounded like you wandered a littl too far away from the structure of the song/tempo and it started to just sound like fast, insane improvised noodling- so I would say to really be careful on the tempo and how far you want to be in or out of "the box" (or the key for that phrase of the song) - your pinch harmonics are awesome.. NICE.. sounds like you listened to a lot of Zakk Wylde until you got it right. I'm hearing the drums something fierce here.. maybe they are a bit too loud, but 'm not hearing any background guitar or bass so it definitely needs something in the background chugging along. Am ABSOLUTELY HONORED BEYOND BELIEF TO HAVE BEEN SOME OF THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THIS, or to be some of th inspiration in your practicing and playing better. Also damned honored to be shredding along next to you and Brain! RAISING MY PRS (custom 22) ...I SALUTE YOU!

Thanks dude!!! I'm not really one for making a backing with a bass, mainly because IDK how to play bass, but I can definetly tell its thin. As for noodling...guilty. I really wanted to show my tapping chops, thus its fulled with those bits, but also my licks and tricks. And having no music theory, fusing them was unorganized and hell i'll say it ...sloppy. ![]() Yeah, the drums are very loud, which is weird because in my headphones it sounded level with the guitar, but since I didn't want to mess it up, I left it alone. Ah, the Pinches.... theres a lot of Zakk influence, but I wanted to do something like Brain's Jason where he descends with the pinches, something like that. Plus Beethovens Bane has awesome ones scattered about. ![]() Its an honor for me as well, I love being bested because it makes me want to play that much more... even starting to sweep better... .So, A Salute to you!!! And To You Brain!!!! |

I really liked it, awesome work!
![]() Like I have said before, I and not a big fan of the solo out shredding guitar, but I can't say that you didn't do a fantastic job. There are some parts I wish the drums were a bit quieter then the guitar.

Awesome shit man. That was so cool. I love the pinches and the all-out shred moments were very good. I do agree with the aforementioned drum-issue and the slight flatness of the occasional notes, but all-in-all, kickass song. Great job.

Yeah, I'm learning it now, I love the melody, lots of slides there... but I have a lot more mellow stuff myself. Maybe tonight I'll post them.

You are incredibly fast. To be honest I can't even approach going as fast as you seem to quite easily. If I had to give you a critique, I'd say try and phrase it all a bit more; try to make it like a story. try and give the song more peaks and valleys, using tension and release to keep it interesting and further the story. If started using your speed to create a lot of tension that would lead to a release, you could really create some powerful stuff. Keep playing though man, you have a lot of talent.
