Hi everyone, good to be back here again.
I recently purchased an Audio/USB Interface (POD UX1) and I'm having trouble working the arrangement I currently have and don't really have money yet to purchase what I WILL need in the future, but since I'm impatient I need a little advice on a temporary setup that will work at least. Heres the deal: Computer lacks the RAM required to run the recording software (crashes, Latency, you name it) but can still use the software. No monitor/Headphones to monitor my recording in realtime (what COULD I use)? Output file from Live 7 as a midi drum track plays as a Midi Keyboard track in other Audio playing software. Setup (equipment available): Peavey EXP Limited Series Guitar Marshall Valvestate AVT50 Zoom GFX5 Multi-effects pedal POD UX1 Interface and Software (POD Farm, Riffworks, Ableton Live 7) USB Cable 2 x 3/4" Jack Cables 1 x 1/4" - 3/4" connector 1 x Shitty 3/4" Jack cable What I would like to know is a way of setting this gear up so that I can record onto the computer, reduce latency to Minimum, output audio as MP3/WAV, and monitor my playing in real time. BUT, as I have about 1 month without money I can't purchase anything else at the moment, so I already know that I need studio Headphones/Line Monitor/Studio Monitor, Upgrade the RAM on my computer, etc....... So a little competition to see if anyone can help, if you can, I grant you 1000 thanks to your post. ![]()

Sorry to hear you're having trouble recording.
![]() Before I can help offer a solution, let me know what your PC's specs are and what program(s) you've tried recording with (if anything other that what you listed), then we'll go from there. ![]()

Hey musicman
Heres the specs, which aren't pretty decent I would imagine: Microsoft XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3 iQon Technologies AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3000+ 1.80GHz, 192mb Ram (I've allocated 512mb from the hardrive also) Programs I'm using are: Pod Farm (for the interface) Ableton Live 7 Lite (Line 6 edition) Riffworks I also have Audacity on the PC which I used to use. Haven't tried any other software yet, better to wait for a professional response before I do. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks Chris

Ok, without knowing more specs of your PC such as the make/model of the motherboard, or at least what type of RAM you have (you can obtain this info by running a system scanner like at www.crucial.com, or by looking at the actual parts inside your PC)... I would guess that a PC from around that time would probably have something like PC2700 DDR RAM @ 333MHz, possibly older, possibly newer, but somewhere around that. If that's the case then you could add 512MB of RAM for as cheap as $20, or 1GB of RAM for as little as $38.
I would either go that route, be patient and buy a better PC (because spending any money on a PC that old is a waste to be honest), spend around $250 for a digital multitrack recorder like a Fostex, or find a digital camera that records video/audio and just record with that, then transfer the file to your PC. It won't be very good quality, but if you absolutely have to record by a certain date and it's your only option, you do what you gotta do. I'd be happy to help you further however I can, but that's my initial suggestion, to scrounge together $20 or $40 and buy some more RAM. If you're not sure how to replace RAM, it's as easy as snapping a stick into a slot firmly until it clicks. Let me know if I can be of further assistance. ![]() EDIT: I just wanted to add that you should NOT buy the RAM I linked to without knowing for sure that it is the same RAM that will work on your motherboard. It was just an estimated guess as to what you might need, to show you that it's probably not as expensive as you thought it might be. ![]()
