I hope someone will eventually be able to answer my question...
Some kids around here are always listening to Mary-Kate and
Ashley, and there is an instrument in their song I Am the Cute
One that I can't identify and nobody I've asked knows what it
is. I've always been wondering what it is. It's mostly the
only instrument you hear besides drums. I don't know how good the quality is, but there's a sample of the song on amazon.
Thanks to anyone who might be able to identify the instrument.

It sounds like keyboards to me, using the really basic "guitar" effect on it or something.

Also, the song is on YouTube if anybody else wants to give it a listen.

I'll pass, but thanks. Thanks for having a listen and answering the OP's question though, kids songs give me seizures so I couldn't force myself to listen to it.

Lol. I actually listened to it right before I went to bed, so I had it stuck in my head all night.

I'm not sure if I was specific enough about which instrument I'm referring to. Listening to the song just now I realize the instrument I mean doesn't start until just when they begin singing. Before that at the very beginning there is something else being played for a few seconds, then it stops and the one I'm wondering about starts along with the drums.

Bass guitar, drums, and keyboards is all I can hear when the singing is going on. But this time the keyboard is using a wind instrument effect (but it's still definitely a keyboard, just based on how the notes are attacked). Oh, and I think there's a triange in there.

I hope that covered it this time. If not, just post again with maybe a time that it starts so I can listen for it better.

Thanks. Keyboards is definitely it when you mention wind instrument effect. I've been wondering what that instrument was since I first heard the song back in 1997 and now I finally know.
