I love jazz and recently I've been listening to Charmaine Clamor and I love listening to her music genre called "Jazzipino" which is fusion of Jazz and Filipino music.
I plan to collect CD's of jazz artists with fusion of rock jazz, opera jazz, punk jazz, R&B jazz, indigenous/local music fusion with jazz, etc. Any recommendations? |

Jazz/Rock Fusion begins with Miles Davis.
The "In a Silent Way" and "Bitches Brew" albums were the true beginning of Jazz/Rock Fusion. Members of Miles band formed another band that was the first (I believe) to be called Fusion. They called themselves "The Mahavishnu Orchestra". Their first two albums ("Inner Mounting Flame" and "Birds of Fire") feature fantastic musicianship and some ridiculous guitar work. There are tons of great fusion bands. I will list a few of my favorites. Weather Report (And all of Jaco Pastorius' solo albums) Brand X (Interesting because Phil Collins was the drummer) Tony Williams Lifetime (especially his first two "Emergency!" & "Turn It Over") RX (a Japanese fusion band) Nucleus (Their 1971 album "Solar Plexus" is a Jazz/Rock blend) Isotope Finnforest (a Finnish fusion band) Electromagnets (Eric Johnson's fusion band) Then there is Bela Fleck (who is a virtuoso banjo player who plays a bluegrass/jazz fusion) His "Cosmic Hippo" album won Jazz album of the year. Start with these and let us know what you think. Last edited by meanceprimeaux : 02-23-2012 at 09:49 PM. |
