Join the Official KMA Review Team!

Do you like to listen to music? Of course you do!
Do you like to help musicians reach their maximum potential? Of course you do!

So why not do both at the same time? The KMA Review Team will be a small group of members who's job it will be to listen to the music uploaded here in the Music Showcase, and critique the work that has been done. This way, the musicians will know what they did best and also what could use a bit more work. This way, they can specifically target those areas and create a masterpiece!

To join the KMA Review Team you don't need to understand any music theory or anything like that. All we ask is that you know what you like and can put your thoughts into somewhat coherent words. We're looking for people with all sorts of varied tastes, so whether you like smooth jazz or prefer the most brutal of black metal, you have something we here at KMA desire: an opinion. So as of now we're taking applications to join the official KMA review team.

You may be used to long dull applications that ask hundreds of specific little tidbits of information, but this one will be easy. After all, it only really has one question: Why would you be a good addition to the KMA review team?

Feel free to post your answers in this thread, and if you have any questions, feel free to post them here or PM MusicMan, Aqualung, or I.

Once again, thanks for making KMA a kicking rad community to be with.

Well, i'm not sure how many people will post on this, but i'll be the first. I'm still pretty new here *been here three days?* But MY GOD this site has helped, even though I am not much of a composer yet, and dont write my own music. So i probably wont be poster anything of mine any time soon.

BUT! I do listen to a lot of music *like most people here* and I listen to a wide variety. When i'm studying or just relaxing i listen to a lot! of Smooth, and Instrumental Jazz. When i'm just rocking out in my own world, i listen to anything from Dragonforce, to Styx, - Elvis, to My Chemical Romance. So I pretty much listen to everything *metal not so much, sorry peoples* And when i do, after a while i start to listen specifically to the bass part, or rythem, or drums, or vocals. But i tend to be a bit obsessive about the songs i like, and dont. And when i can humm all parts of it, i know i'm done. Lmao.

But yeah, if you need some people to check out music, if your standards are low enough i'll help.

My reviews might be a bit too personal, since I only like metal, most of the times. But I guess I could give nice reviews on other things, mostly on the recording and mixing quality, and the general songwriting, even if they're not metal. Don't know... I'd like to give it a try.

We will be leaving this thread open until around Saturday 11-17-07, so until then I encourage anybody who would like to join the team to post in this thread explaining why you would be a good addition to the team. Shortly after the thread is closed, we will announce our decisions and welcome the new review team with some new goodies.

id be glad to be a part of this... i mean i already give my opinions on most of the stuff in the showcase anyway but this is a good opportunity to have some sort of official involvement with this forum as its my favourite music forum since it welcomes all different styles of music, is very friendly and iv seen some quite good musicians on here.

i guess id make a good review member because i dont believe theres such a thing as bad music. i listen to all sorts of music (but of course i have my favourites) and am willing to help out anyone who asks as i love seeing people create, its just a beautiful thing

i really think this forum can go somewhere and become the thriving community that it should be and i wanna be a part of it

Well, we are going to reopen this thread for new applications. We're looking to fill three revier spots. We'd like to have these positions filled by March 1st, but the opportunity will stay open as long as there are spots to fill. Take at look at these criteria to see if you think would make a good candidate to be on the review team!

These are things we would want you to do:

1. Be an active member who can listen to music while they're posting.
You need to be at least as active as the people who upload their music. Also, if you're only active in situations where you can't listen to music (like at work or at a library), being a reviewer probably won't be a great fit.

2. Have good conventions.
No chatspeak (hay, i rly lik ur song). You can have some of the best stuff to say, but if you can't communicate it in a manner that others (even those members who don't speak english) can understand and in a way that promotes KMA as an intelligent community, then being an official member of KMA's staff isn't in your future.

3. Be tactful.
Be able to find something to compliment everybody about (come on, nobody does EVERYTHING wrong!), and give criticism in a tactful and polite manner. We're not myspace. Things here shouldn't "sukzorz". When giving criticism, tell the member tactfully what they did wrong and, if you can, how they can go about trying to fix it. Make the criticism constructive.

4. Make reviewing your priority.
If you're only able to pop in for ten minutes and you see one thread in the Music Showcase and ten in the Soundtrack of Our Lives forum, post your feedback (unless you know you'll be back within a few hours anyway).


As a member of our review team, you will also be a member of the moderation team. You'll be able to moderate threads in the MusicShowcase, so if you see people insulting each other or threads in the Music Showcase that don't belong, you'll be able to do something about it. It's a great opportunity to help KMA grow and become an even better music forum than it is already.

Hey, its me again. I was part of this review team for a while, but my speakers got destroyed, and evidently I didn't get them back fast enough and I was booted. Anyway, I have been still putting detailed reviews (If you look at the newer ones, they're not just 'good job, keep going') and now that I'm settled into my apartment, I can check on the site nearly everyday. So even if I am doing it already, If you want to put me on the team you can.


By the way, maybe there could be a stamp at the bottom of our posts in the Music Showcase, for the people on the review team? It will say something like
"Official review by (Insert Name) of the Review Team", I dunno just sounded professional.
