Okay. It's pretty dead here.

I'm no expert or see all be all end all when it comes to anything but I like the idea and premise of this forum but it needs a serious overhaul.

1.) There are way too many Forums going on with little to no activity in most of them. How about we have a small handful of "General" forums going on?

Soundtrack of our lives, Featured Artists, Guitar and Bass Discussion, Singing and Songwriting Discussion, Recording Equipment and Techniques, Introductions and the Trash Bin are all pointless and could be done away with or merged into other forums.

2.) New layout. New Design. That flaming C in the logo....ugh. Flames are NEVER cool. Unless you are a Douchebag.

3.) If you're going to have a premium membership that costs 10 bucks and let anyone join for free...uhm. What's the point? Is there a hidden forum that premium members get and frequent? How about making the registration fee 1$ no matter who or what joins? I understand it costs money to keep the site up and running but...eh.

4.) Tacky smilies. It's a dead idea.

5.) Post Icons. gross.

6.) Tags. Why?

7.) Too many options on a clouded forum format/template.

8.) Too many half-asses posts and too many old topics. Delete EVERYTHING and start fresh. If you want to save some of it by all means, do it but blah.

9.) Where are all the old members? Coax them into becoming active again.

10.) The King of Limbs sucks. I'm not trying to see an add for it.

I don't know. /end troll/rant

Thank you for your post, it's the funniest thing I've read all day... I too enjoy the idea of this site and have only recently joined, but agree, its a little eirie and has the feeling of a ghost site!!!!!! Looks to have been a hit a few years back, so what has happened to all 8000 odd members???

Is there anyone else out there or are we all alone?

I would say, I think we are all too busy with what's going on in our lives . I have been worrying about my job . I have not had as much time on KMA as
I would like . I try to check out KMA on the weekends . I still find KMA to be very informative and enjoy the feedback .

Thank you for your opinions, OP, regardless of whether I agree with them all . Do you have any services you could volunteer to help improve some of the things you pointed out? To make a long story short, KMA has gone from an endeavor that I was able to devote hours every day to, and I've had some great help over the years. Now, it's just me, and I have very little time and no help. So I'm always looking for help in all forms, especially from people who like what KMA is all about. And you seem to care about our community at least a little, so if you have any skills or resources that could help us improve and thrive, I'd be grateful to hear about them. You could PM me if you'd prefer.

That said, there are very few forums that are still thriving today. It's tough to compete with Facebook, where very little thought or commitment is required. You can simply go there and post some bullshit copypasta and get instant attention. Forums don't last if everyone wants something but gives nothing in return. And honestly, if you compare the posts here at KMA of the last year to 3 years ago, there's a huge difference in that give/take ratio. Nobody wants to contribute, everyone wants feedback or for you to click some link. Deleting the old content and archives would be the absolute worst thing I could do, because 98% of new people who join, join because they want something, not because they want to contribute. And those 2% of people who aren't completely selfish wouldn't dare stick around if there were no other signs of anyone contributing helpful information.

Thanks again for your input.
