Name That Solo!

Ok it's finally here, a game we'll call Name That Solo!

Basically I'll post a short clip of a solo, most will be guitar solos but there will also be some drum solos, bass solos, and maybe even some other instruments as well. Some of the other games we have done it has been somewhat easier to cheat and google lyrics and things like that and get an answer....but this game will be tougher.

Here's how the competition will work.

1. Post the following info if you think you know the song.

A: File number (filenames will be sequentially named starting with Solo1.mp3, Solo2.mp3, etc..)

B: Artist name

C: Song name

D: (For bonus points) Which solo it is (first, second, etc...) if the song has more than one solo. If there is only one solo (quick 1 or 2 bar fills don't really count as a solo), then just post "only solo" and that will count as a correct answer for D:

Anyone who can correctly identify all 4 of these without asking for or getting hints will receive a Post Thanks, which will earn you a little extra reputation points. Correct answers for A,B, and C will earn you a win for that solo, but only guesses that have all four correct will earn a win AND a thanked post.

Hints can be asked for and given if a song is extremely difficult and nobody can figure it out. You can earn a single win even if you get a hint, but no posts will be thanked if a hint has been given for that solo.

Anyone who earns 15 "wins" will receive a premium membership for free. That may seem like a lot, but this game should continue for a long time, and I'll try to post new solos often (some days I may post just one, some days I may post 10, you never know so keep an eye on this thread.) So getting 15 wins shouldn't be that hard. There also may be a special prize at the end of the game to whoever has the most wins, so don't stop guessing even if you've gotten 15 wins and a premium membership!.

At least no one can cheat, i always hated when people did that...

It sounded really SRV-ish to me, but I couldn't pinpoint the song. I ought to have just guessed Voodoo Chile, though, based on what I've heard MusicMan say before.

The riff in the middle and the hendrixish wah was a dead giveaway to me, i listen to that song everyday.

Correct, first solo from the "Essential Stevie Ray Vaughan" album version. Not sure where it was recorded.

Ok solo2 is kicking my brain around, as is 1 and 3, any hints on solo2? I think i can figure out 1 and 3 in a while...

No hints on #2 yet. I even left in a snippet of vocals and a few seconds of chord progression after the solo. Anyone with familiar with the most popular bands ever could easily figure out what solo this is. So yeah, no hints for a few days.

man, that was hard. The voice really reminded me of the Beatles, but the drum solo reminded me of Cheap Trick, so I kept looking through all these songs by them to try to find it.
