I've recently come up with the idea of looking at world politics in terms of a rock band, and I thought this would be the appropriate place to share such a theory.
![]() This is how I see it: - The United States are the lead guitarist, getting all the attention and pretending they are most important while in fact they aren't. - The European Union is the keyboardist, struggling to be respected, but often viewed as an unnecessary addition by the other band members. - The Middle East is the lead singer, constantly drawing attention to itself, and constantly falling out with the rest of the band. - Russia is the rhythm guitarist which used to be a second lead guitarist, frustrated that their role has been reduced. - India is the bassist, and China is the drummer; these countries do not get much attention, but they are most important, providing the basis on which the entire world runs. So, what do you think of this theory?

Australia can play the jew's harp. Not necessary, but always good for some comic relief.

![]() Or perhaps Israel should be a second singer, who constantly quarrels with the other singer... Oh, and North Korea does the special effects with their newly-acquired nuclear weaponry. Gadget-happy Japan would make a good technician; and the Swiss, the perpetually non-aligned bankers of the world, might be the manager.
