Hey.
I was wondering, what oher people think of Priest's newest album "Nostradamus".
It has recieved a lot of critic, so it is kind of an album you either hate or love.

I find it great, and some of the songs i'm listening to, the most right now, are from this album.
I'm especially in love with "Prophecy". Probably because of, that this was the track they opened with at Roskilde Festival where I saw them for the first time .. Besides that, "Alone", "Revelations" and "Death" are great as well ..

What are you guys opinion? Good/Bad? Any favourite tracks?

I'm really interested in hearing it. I love Priest and the little 30 second clips from iTunes sound solid, but I'm hesitant bout picking up a come-back album such as this. So, any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I like it. Very dark, very gothic. Halford puts some good range on display. I've heard it's a bit bloated (the whole album), but I'm gonna take a closer look at it now.

I didn't even know they were putting out a new album - thanks for the info. I'm going to try to listen to it once I get my computer back.

Mmh... I don't know. I'm not really interested in their new album - I bought their last one, Angel Of Retribution, and I thought it wasn't very good compared to, say, Painkiller or Stained Class.

I really do like alot of early priest all the way up to the painkiller album but to be honest I think I outgrew this band a long time ago so I really have no interest in the new album even though I'm sure it's ok... But it's great they are still doing their thing after so many years.

I got a copy and so far my feelings are a bit mixed. A) If you are looking for that "classic Priest sound" you are NOT going to find much of it in this recording- with the exception of "Alone" which is a great tune. Much of my favorites are all on the 2nd CD which makes me feel like I have to "trudge" through the first cd to get to the really good stuff. Does anybody else feel that way? ALSO- I feel like since Priest is really focusing on Nostradamus- the MAN and how life was during his lifetime- they really are NOT focusing on any of the quatrains (predictions) of Nostradamus as much as I would have liked- so in turn it turns out to be a recording about a guy named Nostradamus living in tumultuous times and a bit about love and being somewhat socially outcast. Hell- that explains damn near ANYBODY. They could have saved themselves a ton of time and made a concept album on "Joe the plumber" or the guy that owns that hardware store or that stoned guy that makes the doughnuts at 3am.. you see- once you take most of the BIGGEST AND MOST IMPORTANT aspects of Nostradamus out of the equation- it really could be about anyone and I guess that's really what seemed to be the "big let down" with this recording. Otherwise I think it's very operatic and an awesome undertaking for any metal band to do and I tip my hat at them for doing it. This shows a completely different and refreshing side of Priest- one that is definitely worth noting and listening to, but it does seem to stretch a bit long and not really touch on what Nostradamus is most known for.. anybody else understand and feel this way?
