The Lockout is a monthly music event held in Camden, North London which prides itself on showcasing the best new musical talent the UK music scene has to offer. The next Lockout event on October 15th will see 6 more fantastic new acts from all over the UK perform in front of the Lockout audience full of both the music industry and new music lovers.
Over the last 6 months we have had artists such as Beth Rowley, Scott Matthews, Grand Avenue, Mamas Gun and Passenger have performed, with Beth, Scott and Mamas Gun now receiving regular radio play and Passenger appearing on a T4 special promoting their new album. Our last show on September 18th saw memorable performances from VV Brown, Gideon Conn The Ryes, helping The Lockout to sell out for the fifth event in a row. The Lockout is now proud to announce that its live show can now be watched over the internet as we stream our entire event out live over the web. We will also be launching our new look website www.lockouttv.com on October 15th where you can watch all the previous Lockout performances from all past artists as well as join the Lockout community and receive regular updates on new Lockout projects. The next event will be taking place on October 15th at Dingwalls, located in Camden Lock, NW1 8AB. Tickets for this event are only £7, VIP tickets £10 and available at . Performing at the next Lockout will be; Bohemian Mods – Proud winners of Jamie Oliver’s unsigned competition, this Sheffield band have gone from strength to strength in their short nine months as a band with their home recordings recently found their way onto Radio Sheffield’s Raw Talent playlist with The band recently supported ex-Moloko singer Roisin Murphy at Plug and are set to support Little Man Tate at the Sheffield Carling Academy. Inspired by funk and soul artists such as Raul Midon and The Isley Brothers, the band has created a truly distinctive sound. With a down-to-earth feel and an air of simplicity, their music is the perfect soundtrack for any occasion. www./bohemianmods ![]() The Special Ks – It’s not often you get to experience intelligent pop music in today’s music charts. Breaking the trend are quirky 5-piece rock-pop band, The Special Ks. Drawing influence from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Elton John and Maroon 5, The Special Ks are setting a trend with their funky, fresh sound and are creating a buzz with every live show they perform. Formed while they were at college together, the Brighton based five some have a host of dates in and around London over the next coming months, expect to hear big things about them in 2009. www./thespecialksmusic ![]() Sam Heard – The familiar face and voice of Sam Heard returns to the Lockout to perform songs taken from her now completed debut album set for release in 2009. Over the past few months the singer-songwriter has been working hard in the studio with legendary producers John Reynolds (Sinead O'Connor) and Robin Miller (Sade). With tour dates and first single scheduled for later this year before next year's album release, 2009 will be the breakthrough year for Sam Heard. www./samanthaheard ![]() Julian Velard – Now living in West London, Brooklyn born Julian Velard is a superb pop songwriter as well as a storyteller. His passion for film has influenced his music ever since he was a young school boy, who would rather rent 2 feature length movies a night than do his homework. Since signing to Virgin, Julian has worked with Robbie Williams’ producer Steve Power and completed his eagerly awaited album ‘The Planteer,’ on which you may recognise his debut single ‘Jimmy Dean and Steve McQueen.’ With his record collection containing music from the likes of Elton John to Girls Aloud, The Lockout can expect a very special set from a truly unique artist. www./julianvelard ![]() Mosquito’s Tweeter - The band Mosquitoes Tweeter is somewhat of a mystery. Named after a Nina Simone song, they are a collection of hugely talented musicians. Although young, the London based unit has worked with many highly respected musicians and artists such as Jamiroquai, The Brand New Heavies, Bilal, Gregory Darling and Kyle Eastwood to name just a few. The lead singer-songwriter and producer, who, inspired by the performances she had been witness to from a young age, has drawn from artists such as Quincy Jones , Aretha Franklin, Sly and the Family Stone and Parliament. She has now co-written and co-produced two albums in her name which have been released to critical acclaim, one of which was alongside current man of the moment Eg White. Having recently returned from working with the Dap Kings in New York, Mosquito's Tweeter are now in the final stages of completing their debut album. www./mosquitoestweeter ![]() WanDan - Having opened Lockouts very first show back in 2006 with a bang WanDan, a true Lockout favourite is back to perform at this, our 10th show! His beatbox talents have seen him performing far and wide, from New York to Moscow & everything in-between. WanDan’s skills have also been combined with the work of other fantastic acts including Scroobious Pip , UK hip hop collective Lazy Habits and another Lockout favourite Nathan ‘Flutebox’ Lee. WanDan surprisingly sites some of his own favourite bands & influences as AC/DC, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden, as well as voicing a passion for Drum & Bass. After delving into the world of Mcing and DJing, WanDan was inspired to follow the path of beatboxing as a career after witnessing beatboxing legend Killa Kela perform live. Now on the panel as a judge himself of the UK Beatbox Championships, WanDan brings something back to the Lockout that never fails to amaze our audience. Expect a set that will leave your jaw on the floor. www./wandan ![]() |
