Im not going to go into too much depth here, but it amazed me to find that the more reviews I found on Oasis third album, Be Here Now, the more of a failure it was portrayed to be.

This really, really surprised me. Be Here Now was great, and made a solid trilogy of fantastic and historic rock albums. Their next main studio album was, however, dissappointing, as has each one since. But they made 3 great albums, not 2.

I mean, you only have to listen to the frikking record to see how good it is. It starts with "Dyou know what I mean", which means that chord sequence has officially been done now. It is the only song with that chord sequence that you ever need to listen to. The beat and nostalgia are fantastic.

It directly follows with My Big Mouth, a power song with loads of energy and also a strange nostalgia to it despite the simple chords. And if a more unusual chord sequence is what youre looking for, the next song is Magic Pie, which features a D minor to an A minor, F then G-a very rare use of normal chords. The song is supurb and the lyrics are absolutely fantastic.

For all the criticism, including by Oasis themselves, Be Here Now is officially the fastest selling album in Britain of all time.

According to John Harris, "To find an album that had attracted gushing notices in such profusion, one had to go back thirty years, to the release of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."

As if one of the strongest starts to any rock album in history werent enough, the album contains one of Oasis very best songs as well: Dont Go Away. This is a very mellow yet somehow light song that is perfectly balanced and, if you were there back then, will bring you back to whatever was happening in your life in 1997.

The albums only weak points are All Around The World and The Girl In the Dirty Shirt, and neither of them are bad, just unremarkable.

Now then. I have a different explanation as to why "Britpop" ended in 1997.

In 1997, something happened to the Music Industry. an enormous and sinister, behind-the-scenes take over. A Feminist organization with the working title of Girl Power took control of the Big Five, and thats when Britpop was killed and The Spice Girls came in. Since then, the international music scene has gone to shit.

Fascist, totalitarian messages and themes can be heard in more than 60% of releases, with a general theme running through all releases these days. This was why Be Here Now was kept down.

It is no reflection on the album.
