http://pitchfork.com/news/44097-watch-radiohead-on-snl/

Okay, in case you missed my review of "The King of Limbs", here it is.

http://www.keepmusicalive.com/ive-de...ing-t9922.html

The link at the top is to Radiohead's recent performances on Saturday Night Live.

Not only did I think there was no way possible for the songs off of TKoL to be more bland but I also thought it was improbable that they could write anything worse. Wow, Radiohead, you continue to amaze me...but because you are catching me off-guard with bland and boring music.

Lotus Flower. Okay. The album version is boring, the music video is garbage (Thom twitching around for 5 minutes) and if you thought it could get worse, kudos to you because this SNL performance is utter garbage.

Did someone tell Thom that the music in the song was dance-able? Obviously. Not only that, he must be deaf. Because the way he is moving around during this performance is retarded. Seriously, he must have Idioteque playing in some hidden headphones, because that is the only reason I can come up with as to why he is moving around like that. Or he has to go to the restroom in a very bad way.

Next is "Staircase" and just like "Up Is the New Down" from In Rainbows, it is a laughable b-side.

Uhm. Wot. I WALK DOWN THE STAIRCASE.

And come on. If it weren't for Ed looking as bored as me, I'd say that it was a farce. But it obviously isn't. Because Jonny seems just as into it as Thom. And you can't even hear his guitar. I'm sitting here thinking....What the HELL?!?

You guys need to cut it out. Seriously. Go away.

P.S. At some point I "Liked" Radiohead's page on Facebook. Recently, I posted on their wall:

Sounds like shit. Shut up already.

And Thom's brother, Andy, responds by saying

HOW BOUT YOU SHUT UP!

LMAO. Fags.

/end Radiohead TROLL

I actually like "Staircase" quite a lot. It creates a mood and a feeling that runs deep with me, and the lyrics are quite good. I don't like "Lotus Flower" all that much. I personally like the direction that Radiohead is going. I may not like every song on every album of theirs, but they continue to release music that inspires and moves me, so I applaud them.

How much did they pay you to say that?

Honestly. The "direction they are going" is bland. Repetitive beats with no dynamics and weak lyrics. There is no climax, crescendo, build-up, break-down or anything interesting about it. It's Thom Yorke turning the band into his solo project. The Eraser 2.0.

Everything since In Rainbows has been completely UN inspired. And while I agree, after listening to Staircase a second time, it's 59684675 times better than the entire new album but it's still predictable and boring. It's like the poor man's KID A was their plan in recording The King of Limbs.

They paid me nothing. I liked The Eraser. I don't mind if the band is more or less supporting Thom's creative efforts, assuming that is the case. But I think you assume too much.

I didn't actually think they payed you to say that

And I adore The Eraser. But because it WASN'T Radiohead. Furthermore, I am being almost entirely sarcastic by saying they intended to make TKOL a KID A sequel.

But its still garbage. They should have called it quits after In Rainbows, at least for longer than they took off in between the last 2 records. At this point they're attention whoring.

Okay. Just to let you know, I don't hate them. So here is a link to Jimmy Fallon performance.Of.Give Up the Ghost.

Its good. What was one of the better songs on the album because of the multi-tracked vocals is performed great here.

My issue now is that, instead of holing up and slaving over a "traditional" album, why did they not instead either nail the songs to perfection and go around performing them such as this, or further still, record the entire album live (and if you want to hear a band past its prime gain its sound back and hear an example of how I mean "record it live", listen to The Cure's self-titled album, The Cure)? To have nailed the songs and performed them on SNL or Colbert or Jimmy Fallon, they'd have created an even larger demand for a physical album and instead of raving about a revolutionary release strategy that turned out to be anything but, they could have ACTUALLY DONE IT DIFFERENT FOR ONCE.

Oh, and if you want to seriously discuss, I'm down.

GIVE UP THE GHOST.

If you are like me and take someone's lyrics as literal representations and expressions of the writer's mind, then this song completely justifies my directed assault toward Radiohead.

LYRICS to Give Up the Ghost:

Don't haunt me; Don't hurt me (repeated throughout)

Gather up the lost and sold

In your arms
In your arms

Gather up the pitiful

In your arms
In your arms

What seems impossible

In your arms
In your arms

I think I have had my fill

In your arms
In your arms
In your arms
In your arms

I think I should give up the ghost

In your arms
In your arms
In your arms
In your arms

Alright. What's troubling you, Thom? Fame? Riches? Writer's block? RADIOHEAD? Obviously it isn't Jonny, since Radiohead have become the Thom and Jonny show. And they even look at each other and smile and giggle like two adolescents with crushes after an awkward kiss when they finish playing.

Why are you so uncomfortable? Whos arms are doing this to you?

Your lover's? Michael Stipe's? RADIOHEAD'S?

Are you the lost and sold? Are you the pitiful? Why have you had your fill and what with? What ghost are you trying to give up?

Aw. Thom.

There There.
