Has anyone noticed how people from the '50s all sounded the same? Like on news reels of politicians and stuff their voice and cadence and stuff all sound exactly alike from person to person. Or am I just weird and nobody else thinks that at all?

I've always enjoyed listening to voices that sound the same in every person, particularly monotone ones. I also enjoy the '50s. This could work out marvelously!Any examples you'd like to give, Aqua? ![]() Edit: Yes, you're weird. That could only be a good thing! ![]()

Ok, here's a video. Everybody in it sounds exactly the same, even though there at least three people.

Ah, Ike - you just gotta love him!
![]() But you're right they do talk the same. Perhaps it was the quality of the equipment that they used when broadcasting conversations or speeches. I can see this kind of quality in movies too. But then again...we can always conspire that many politicians and other important people spoke like this because they wanted to sound important. After all, it was during the time when you needed to speak clearly and confidently to earn the trust of the people... That or they were aliens.

EDIT: Yeah, with a crappy microphone even my dad and I sound pretty similar. At least as similar as those guys. |

It's not just the sound of the voice, though. It's the accent, rhythm, cadence, inflection, etc. That's why I lean towards the second theory more than the first.

Yeah. I suppose that makes better sense. Even though my dad and I sound the same, we still sound nothing like those folks.
