Mike, my music master, says I might try this POD xt instead of an upgrade from my little amp. I understand it models amps, etc, but I'm not sure what it can do other than making my little amp sound like the big ones.
Is $70.00 a good price for the unit, no foot pedal included?

Well it can certainly make a crappy amp come alive, I mean, there are a few things it can't do, but theres a ton that it can. I have the Pod XT Live (its the floor model of the XT) and I really love it and all I can do with it, though I find I use simpler and simpler settings all the time, but maybe this is just me using it well instead of overusing it.

I plugged it in. This thing's amazing. Have you ever heard yourself play through a Brit j-800 amp, with reverb, in an acoustic chamber? Or played a guitar set up like Santana, Hendrix,or SRV?
Dial in any of 64 preset amp configurations, or manually pick any of 32 amp models, then add the stomp boxes, reverb, etc, effects from those modeled in this thing, adjust the typical tone controls, and plug it in to either headphones or your amp. and hear the most amazing sounds you've ever made. It also plugs into USB ports, and that MIDI stuff too.
I've been playing guitar for 40 years, and had never heard myself play through this type of equipment before. I don't even own an amp! So with headphones that need a wiggle to get the starboard ear to kick in, I've never sounded this good. I can't wait to plug in through a borrowed amp.!
It makes your amp sound like the big famous ones, Fender, Marshall, Matchless, etc. I've got blisters on my fingers, and my ears are ringing.

Yeah, I've got the XT Live too. It's pretty incredible coming out of my 30W red Crate. I likes it.
