I wanted to create a thread where I could post a bunch of Sigur Ros videos, so here it is. If you're not familiar with Sigur Ros, read our Featured Artist - Sigur Ros thread. And definitely start listening to them, odds are that their music will change your life.

I'll start off with an amazing video I just watched for the first time. It's a song called "Olsen Olsen", from their Agaetis Byrjun album. The video is a clip from their movie/DVD called Heima. It's a documentary about the band returning to their home, Iceland, and putting on a series of unannounced, free shows for the people of their homeland. They played all over the map, even some extremely remote locations and the DVD features the beautiful Icelandic landscape in a way that compliments the music perfectly. In fact, the IMDB called Heima the best documentary EVER!

I'll post more when I get time, enjoy this one for now. It's a lovely song with a final crescendo that's so triumphant it just makes you wanna jump right through the ceiling.

EIDT: I was about to point to this post I made a while back, but the video got taken down.

I think Hoppipolla is still my favourite Sigur Rós song

Kind of like taking a trip to Iceland without leaving the couch. Really different music, haunting melodic quality is very cool. You do realize MM, Aqua, that I've read some comments about Sigur Ros but have never heard their music until right now. I have some Scandahoovian blood in my veins and it's boiling now, lol, must be something about a group of Viking colonists making music that awoke my ancestral heritage.

Cool, it's great to see someone who has never heard them before. I feel like a Christian converting someone....except for I don't preach for days on end and tell them they'll go to hell if they don't listen to Sigur Ros, I just point them to the music and so far I've never heard anyone say "Oh my god that's rubbish". I challenge you to be the first though. Maybe then I'll start with the hellfire and brimstone speeches.

Here's another video. It's the first time I ever saw or heard Sigur Ros. It was recorded live in Philly for HBO's "Reverb" concert series. I don't think I've ever been so jawdroppingly amazed by concert footage since Pink Floyd's "Pulse".

Oh and the song is called "Svefn G Englar" which roughly translates to "Sleepwalking Angels"

And here's the official video for the song, which is even more beautiful.

Ha ha, no need for the fire and brimstone MM, these guys are definitely different from anything I've ever heard and that's saying something! Thanks for sharing these videos, I'm always looking for new music to expand my horizons and this band certainly do that and more.

Ah, I forgot about Svefn G Englar! That might be my favourite song.

Wow! Thanks for sharing Sigur Ros. Very enchanting and melodic sounds. Although, the vocals in the first video of MusicMan's post was a bit much. I think the music is entrancing.

Sorry, MusicMan, I just feel that the melodic enchantment that comes from the guitar was overshadowed by the vocals. That is only my opinion. Dont get me wrong, I like this stuff. It is definitely on my list of new listening material worthy of obtaining more for my collection.

Ahh I see Just think of the vocals and lyrics as another instrument and maybe they won't distract from the music as much. Most of their vocals are in a made up language, Hopelandic, and intended to be just another instrument, leaving the songs open for interpretation from every listener.

Here's a video from the same Philly concert recorded for HBO's Reverb, the song is called "Ny Batteri" (New Battery). I love this song's buildup of tension and bombastic explosion.
