Small Leaks Sink Ships (SLSS) formed in the fall of 2006. As a three piece band, Judd Hancock, Jim Mandel and London Van rooy was sought out and signed by No Sleep Records in 2006. Shortly after their signing SLSS headed to St. Augustien Florida to record their first album “Until The World Is Happy; Wake Up You Sleepyhead Sun” at Retrophonics Studio. After the release SLSS played shows with Pieball, facing newyork, tera melos, stiletto formal, cursive memory, damiera, and much more. Reviews shortly followed stating that Until The World Is Happy; Wake Up You Sleepyhead Sun is “one of more unique albums to be heard in 2007” (Abosulutepunk.net). Additional reviews placed SLSS as one of the “100 Bands You Need to Know” by Alternative Press. With success sitting on their door step SLSS took a step back to reevaluate the path that their success was directing them.
After being through the ropes of the established music industry SLSS parted ways with No Sleep Records and decided to carve a new path for their music and others around them. At the beginning of the summer in 2008 SLSS gathered their friends and other like minded people to start on a project to drive music, art, and local communities. In this short period of time SLSS has started writing their second album, established a record label (Cross Chatter Records), developed a social networking site Phoenix Local Music formed a video production company and an apparel line. The spawn of these multiple projects has developed from their belief that to make an impact on the music world they have to collaborate and connect with people. They’ve realized that no one person or one band can make a dramatic impact, so they are using new technologies with an old mindset of face-to-face interaction to connect others in the industry people while creating new opportunities for SLSS to find new people to work with. SLSS is currently collaborating with, artist, oil painters, graphic designers, graffiti artist, promoters, bands, programmers, graphic designers and businesses in addition to other passionate people who want to make a change in the entertainment industry. In utter simplicity they are tying their tongues and taking action. In the next six months they are going to finish their new album, release live video productions of their new work, start touring four months in the year and index the local music scene in Arizona to expose it to the world. Within the next year SLSS will release their new album, establish additional local hubs throughout the U.S. to help build local music, tour internationally and utilize Cross Chatter Records to develop other acts with a similar mission. In a constantly evolving world we must adapt to new ideas and new forms of communication. The beauty about the paradigm shift in human interaction through technological advances is allowing independent artists and thought leaders to have their voice heard around the world. SLSS is leveraging this shift to promote local community collaboration while utilizing new technologies to expose local scenes globally. |

Oh great, it's a generic promotion talk.
By the way, the Music Showcase is for uploading music of your own and discussing that, rather than just telling a story about a band.

Are you part of this band? If you are, we would love to have you upload some of your stuff to the Music Showcase since most people won't go offsite to listen. It would be a great opportunity to get people talking about your group!
