Is TV dead because of the Internet. Or is TV dead because we don't have time for it. What do you think?

It's not dead at all. Most people always watch television.

If it's dead it's because of American television programming.

Soap operas, re-reruns of that 70's show...its like no one is even trying anymore. What ever happened to awesome shows like Trailer Park Boys?

The only way one can say that television is dead is the lack of programming relevant to what is going on, and there is still a fair amount of that. Television isn't dead. New shows are created all the time, the problem is that there is no such thing as an original idea, so people have seen everything already, and a new show with fifteen different shows about it already would be pointless.

TV isn't dead..it just smells that way.
Bottom line- TV sucks ..at least American TV sucks ( don't know about other countries) we have shows that are deliberately aimed at making the populace a nation of stupid sheep where all we care about is who won "American Idle" (check the deliberate misspelling of that) or what star can outdance another..
and tell you what news is important to you and what news is not- remember that presently 92% of America is employed -but of course you won't hear that mentioned on your nightly news program. TV is designed to be a "magic trick"- to show you something shiny and flashy so you don't look at what the other hand is doing. It's only a matter of time before that other hand does something to you that you will not enjoy.
Alas- much of the same is on the internet.
word of advice- go sit outside (if it is nice out) and read a book. If it's not nice outside- go to a museum ..if we all expanded our minds as well as tv and fast food is expanding our butt we would all be a lot better.
That's my rant for today.
-if you agree or like what I'm saying- give me some thanks..

after watching the supposed ER "absolute finale" last night- I'm starting to think that maybe TV is close to dead..like in a coma and sitting in a full bed pan with a heart monitor.. so it SMELLS LIKE IT IS DEAD.. but isn't "technically dead" yet..
but I am tired of the force fed BS on TV.. how the mass-media Uber conglomerates are trying to mold the American populace into a nation of idiots who only care about what "they" tell you to care about .. well..basically what I mentioned above.
Now, if you'll excuse me.. I need to go buy something shiny because my TV told me to...

well..not anymore- that was the last show I referenced above. I think they did something like 15 years on the air. Now if they take away CSI I'll probably watch just DVD movies for the rest of my life!!!

OK- while flipping channels this past weekend I saw a quick blurb of a guy taking a squat in the bathroom with his friends and family hiding in the tub watching..eww.. so I flipped channels and caught some ad where one guy holds his arm pit upto another guy (who is sleeping) and says "take a whiff..what does that remind you of.." so we got crapping in public and wierd dudes sniffing each other's arm pits..all on regular prime-time TV..
YEP..TV IS PRETTY MUCH DEAD AND IT'S DRAGGING SOCIETY DOWN WITH IT TO A PATHETIC LEVEL...
so why was I flipping channels..hell.. i was just tyrying to watch something while eating my lunch!
I'm going back to reading my book..

Any TV show worth watching is available on DVD without stupid commercials.

I wish it would die... I never watch television... Just movies and most of those are awful these days too. Course I do rent some stuff off Netflix that are television shows like Family Guy, Spongebob, American Dad, and some others but they are all cartoons so they don't count.

Yeah- I love family Guy too. Nothing wrong with cartoons- well maybe.. I mean I saw that add with The Charmin bears where the little bear was bending over playing football and mama bear freaked out because there were little bits of toilet paper sticking to the baby bear's ass.. and I thought "toilet paper that doesn't stick to your ass..is this REALLY a NATIONAL PROBLEM?"
I like irreverent humor but c'mon folks.. bears taking a dump behind a tree and toilet paper that won't leave embarrassing bits of paper when somebody goes in to do an up close inspection.. maybe this is TOO much for regular everyday TV..I don't know.
I caught a sitcom where the lead actor said he was bored and was gonna go play with himself.. funny-yes, but it had me wondering if maybe we are going too far because this was on at 6:30..I don't know- I'm not a parent. I'm also not a prude- but I have friends who have kids and maybe this stuff should be on later than 6:30.. I don't know.. if I had a kid he'd be like me and the world cannot afford for that to happen.. enough on that.
But I have no doubt that the world's gone to crap.. and TV is reason # 1.
