I was inspired by psavdonim1 !

So I thought I'd try this on you guys.

t's about a 20 song collage, with 5-10 sec clips of each song.

What common theme do they share? Difficulty 3 outta 5.

surely you recognize a few songs.

Sometimes that's all it takes to make the connection.

And there's a variety of genres so anyone can play.

I recognise a couple, but I can't identify them. I'm really bad at being able to think up the whole song just by a few bars. :'(

Yeah, so did I. It's a great game. I recognised the Thompson Twins song. And the Steve Miller one. And the Toto one. But that wasn't enough for me. All I can think is they're pleading love songs.

2nd collage? I thought it was very difficult!

"The Beatles - I Want To Hold Your Hand" and "Toto - Hold The Line" are certain.

I've recognized a few others, but I can't come up with either artist or song title at the moment.

1st collage?
I've got "Somewhere over the Rainbow" and "It Ain't Over Til' It's Over" by Lenny Kravitz.

This was somewhat disappointing. I've heard almost every song in the collage, but I strive to find title and artist. That's praise to you, Meanceprimeaux!

PS: As a deadhead, I thought I heard some familiar sounds. Am I way of the hook?

Edit: First, I didn't catch that you were asking for a theme. But I guess that "Hold" is a vital stickword in the first one, and that "Over" has the same role in the second.

Wow!
I don't even have a third one ready yet, as this didn't look to be going anywhere.

Well done Collard! you nailed both of them.

Now that you know the theme of each collage, you might be able to more easily recognize the other songs in the collage.

I will do another one soon.

Great thread Mr. Mean! Since there is no song that I cannot immediatelyl recognize, I won't spoil the challenge for anyone else.

I'm the opposite. I only vaguely recognised two of the songs, so there's no way I could spoil it for everybody.

Hey guys I thought maybe I'd repost #3 as there are quite a few newer members who didn't play before.

The idea is to try and find a common theme from the song titles used in the collage...

Baseball? Reluctant marriage/love? All I heard was Meatloaf (Paradise by the Dashboard Light) and Journey (Lights), and I think I might have heard some supertramp, but those two songs weren't enough to get a theme... Apparantly I'm still bad at this game.

I listened to one of them. The 4th one I think. A lot of them sound familiar but I don't know them well enough to say what they are with any certainty.

But (stealing from Aqua's post), is the theme light?

Number three is apparently pretty difficult.

I'll name a few of the artists featured:

Phil Collins
Peter Gabriel
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Led Zeppelin
Blind Melon
Eurythmics
Eric Clapton
Counting Crows
Bruce Hornsby and the Range
Eddie Rabbitt
Supertramp

Now that we know that:

#1 is Hold
#2 is Over
#4 is Light

Who can recognize the most tunes off of them?

Dang it, that one at :23 on the third one is so familiar, and my dad plays it all the time on his guitar, but I just can't think of it!

Wait! It's the Blind Melon song, No Rain! Booyah!

The one at :07 sounds like CCR, but I can't know for sure - it's more just a "It sounds like their style" than an actual recognition. The one at :40 sounds like Counting Crows, but again, more of a style thing than anything definitive.

Here comes the Rain again by the Eurythmics.... Why, the theme of the third one is RAIN!!

That means CCR is "Have you Ever Seen The Rain" and Counting Crows is Rain King

Knowing the artists really helps.
