I had this idea where I wanted to learn about mics by composing a list of them and their features for quick reference, which includes pickup patter, type, applications, and features. After that I realized to compose a group of these threads for personal use, as well as a quick reference for people to learn and to contribute. Basically an ongoing lesson about things such as equipment, learning instruments, theory, and recording. I hope this idea brings more followers to contribute and learn. I’ll start:
AKG414
Pickup Pattern: Variable switcher from omni-direction to figure-8
Type: Condensor
Application: Great for vox
Features: Three switchable bass cut filters and three pre-attenuation pads with LEDs for quick visual indication
In general: High sensitivity and extremely low self noise
