I work out of a full Pro tools Hd3 system in ATL, when it comes to making beats i use my favorite Mpc 2000, Fantom and Motif for my sounds, I would fire up Reason or Logic Studio sometimes if i want to use those synth sounds. Honestly it's whatever you feel comfortable with, but profession gears are always better than using some cheap in the box software to creat music. In the end you get what you put in.
