Here's an article listing some of the worst concert tragedies of all time. Each one has some descriptions of them and some even have video.

1. Free Rolling Stones Concert at Altamont Speedway, 1969
2. The Who in Cincinnati, 1979
3. Pearl Jam at the Roskilde Festival, Denmark, 2000
4. Great White at the Station Nightclub, Rhode Island, 2003 (this one has an exremely disturbing video )
5. Murder of Dimebag Darrell, 2004

I don't remember the Pearl Jam one, or the Dimebag Darrell one, even though they were so recent, but I do remember the Great White one. Were any of you involved in your own scary concert events? I seem to recall somebody here mentioning the Who concert, but I might be wrong... All I can say is I'm glad I have never gone to a scary concert.

The reason for the stampeding to the doors to get inside was warm up music and people rushing to try to get to the front row seats. This concert changed the way the world seated concerts. No more "festival" seats...until 2004 (or something like that). Then the bands got together and complained that they wanted fans in seats infront of the stage.
Yeah, the site mentioned that this concert influenced Ohio to outlaw open seating.

I only remember the last two really, but Dimebag's death really sucked.

My 9th grade Geometry teacher was at The Who concert at Riverfront where people got crushed. He took a whole class day to recall those events and he got really emotional and upset, must have been really traumatic to feel like you're going to die at what was supposed to be a great night out at a concert.

I remember going to one of my umpteen KISS concerts back in the mid 80's in Portland Maine, it was general seating and I looked over at my buddy just in time to see this elbow come up and get him in the face. SO- we decided to move over to the side of the stage where nobody was. The view was awesome- BUT- when KISS hit the stage they set off their explosions- ahem.. I mean they set off their explosions directly in front of where we were standing. BOOM! - well..maybe some of my hair got burnt..but the biggest thing was these two teenage kids (my buddy and I) got knocked back about 15 feet. We realized maybe getting to close to the stage can be a hazard.. LOL.

that's got to be one of the worst concert tragedies.. it still brings tears to my eyes about Dime..
second- I would say that last concert that Stevie ray died in the helicopter..can't remember all the details as it was years ago..
also- the Metallica concert that Hetfield caught fire and GnR wound up acting like a bunch of dickwads and thus incited a huge riot where folks got seriously hurt.

anytime Celine, Mariah or High School Musical kids open their mouth on stage is a Concert Tragedy -in my opinion..

The closest thing to a concert tragedy I've ever experienced was being at the bottom of a pile of metalheads at Paganfest... it was like Domino Express, man. People started falling over in the mosh pit, thus toppling over other people, etcetera. It took a friend of mine and some other guy quite some time to pull me out of there.

I watched the Dimebag Darrell video - it was just sickening. I couldn't really see anything because the quality was crappy. But what disturbed me most was the tone of the comments. It was so sensationalist! I mean, people were killed there, and the newswoman provided comments in a cheerful way, like it was some kind of documentary about animals... and then, back in the studio, there was talk of the policeman who killed the gunman getting some kind of award... I heard phrases like 'America's most...', 'all-star' and 'brave action'.
In short, an incident that killed six people was presented as exciting entertainment. This REALLY reminded me of Fahrenheit 451. Stupid American barbarians.

I got my nose broken in a mosh pit at Coheed and Cambria.

Good times, man. It was a clean pit, complete accident. The guy who hit me even drove me to the hospital himself, after the show.

I've been injured so many times in so many moshpits. But I've seen some really bad injuries.
At a KillWhitneyDead concert in NC, the girl next to me actually got electrocuted after being pushed onto an open pre-amp.
