When it comes to songwriting, should politics be frequently mentioned? I can't help but notice how Enter Shikari (A band i am not exactly a fan of anyway) said they were going make one record which is 'political'. It appears every song they've done now has become that. I've always believed in putting on a pair of headphones and listening to your favourite artists should help you escape the bullshit world of politics and the frustrating realities of life, not just linger in the music as well.

I'd much rather hear someone singing about a real issue that affects our world than listen to some manufactured pop song with no message at all, other than "feel good and dance". Yes, there is a time and a mood for all types of songs, but political songs have a lot more soul, and well written political songs are sang for generations (even centuries) after they are written.

Let's just say one of the greatest songs of all time - "Blowin' in the Wind" by Bob Dylan is political...Yet the world without it written would have been much worse place! If a person has to say something important, his or her song may unite people and bring something new to life. Yes, you always can escape from the world, all while feeling disappointed that no one is doing anything to make it better, but a great song gives you hope and understanding that you should do something on your own, and if everybody would do anything instead of remaining indifferent and trying to escape difficulties, it would take things to the whole new level and make people happier.

Agree. I mean music should be about expressing our opinions and if you wanna sing and write about politic, why not?
