After browsing the forum for a little while it doesn't seem like many music fans cross the Bluegrass/Jamband line but if you do I suggest you check out Yonder Mountain String Band.

YMSB recently played Red Rocks Amphitheater on 9/2. The lineup included Todd Snider opening, Rodrigo y Gabriela followed and Yonder Mountain closed out the night with two energetic sets.

If you haven't heard of Todd Snider check him out besides his "country" label, he is a talented singer/songwriter who writes some great satirical songs. He played his classic "Conservative Christian, Right Wing, Republican, Straight, White, American Males". A great song considering the crowd.

I had never heard of Rodrigo y Gabriela before that day but they are extremely tallented musicians from south of the border. No vocals but you will be blown away by their performance. They played, as I've come to know, one of their signature live covers, Pink Floyds "Wish you where here", they don't sing but everybody in the crowd did. It was great.

The highlight of course was YMSB, being Colorado natives, their hometown shows are always high energy. They sold out Red Rocks for the first time and where visibly thrilled to be playing in front of the home town crowd. They even had to pose in front of the crowd for a picture after the set break, look for the photo on their Christmas card. If you can manage to get your hands on the show, the encore was especially great.

If you've never heard of any of the three aforementioned bands/musicans they are all worth checking out. I'm sure you'll be a fan of one of the three if you give them all a chance.

Keep seeing live music!

I can't say I'm much of a bluegrass fan myself, but thanks for that review! That's cool that they were able to sell out their concert in Colorado. I never knew bluegrass had such a following.

Bluegrass is great I love yonder but if you hang out with any blugrass fans they'll tell you yonder is like the sell out band. But I still love em. I saw them two years ago at gathering of the vibes. The show was great!

Yonder played at Bonaroo and kicked ass!!

I've got a disk of theirs from Bonaroo, it is great!!

I really liked Bela Fleck's Bluegrass Sessions disc too. Bluegrass guys, in general, (especially the pickers) are awesome to watch play.

Speaking of good bluegrass bands. Check out Trampled By Turtles. They are a great band out of Duluth, MN. They have started to hit the festival circuit and are touring all over.

I would definitely check them out.
